IronX not doing anything | defective???

I'm surprised that my post grew to 5 pages. My car has no garage, is parked outside 24x7, but has ceramic pads for which I cannot detect dusting compared to the oem semi-metallics. I drive around in Boston where there are crummy roads and probably a decent amount of air pollution. But my...

IronX not doing anything | defective???

I picked up a bottle of Meguiar's Iron Removing Spray "Clay DRTU200232. It makes no difference spraying even on the fenders and lower doors. I guess I have no iron particulates. I just finished claying the car with Meguiars mild clay, got a fair amount of stuff out of the finish, it feels...

IronX not doing anything | defective???

I'm using Centrix Posi-Quiet ceramic bads. Brake dust is almost undetectable with these vs the oem semi-metallic. The Oem's tend to warp the rotors more easily as well.

IronX not doing anything | defective???

My local Napa carries the Meguiars Iron Removing Spray "Clay" DRTU200232 !!!, I hope I can get it early in the day.

IronX not doing anything | defective???

Yes, I believe Meguiars makes a similar product. The autobody and paint supply store stocks some Meguiars stuff. I can check online if Autozone or Advanced auto carries another brand too.

IronX not doing anything | defective???

I will be polishing and sealing the car tomorrow because the weather will be perfect. I don't have a garage. It would take until this weekend to ship a new bottle of IronX to me. So I guess I will be doing without, unless there happens to be a local retailer that carries the stuff.

IronX not doing anything | defective???

Ah, The expiration is on the bottom. Well it appears that I bought this before covid, my memory is faulty. The bottom sticker says "25 6 20", so it would seem that it is expired. Will have to get a new bottle.

IronX not doing anything | defective???

I sprayed some IronX on a rusty nail and waited a bit, and did get purple residue on the nail. Perhaps the stuff gets weak from sitting in a bottle for a year, though I see no expiration date. I guess I just don't have any iron particulate matter on my car. I did notice after I rinsed the...

IronX not doing anything | defective???

I have a bottle of IronX which I believe I purchased last year. Never opened the bottle. This is the first time using this product. A few moments ago, I sprayed the hood of my car with the IronX and wiped it into the paint with a damp sponge. I waited 5 minutes but the white IronX did not...

    Griots New G9 Polisher

I received the G9 today. I like it very much, with the exception of one detail. I have large hands and wear 2XL size gloves. The handgrip around the buffing pad shroud (below the platypus head) is a bit too small to grip with my large hand. The lower fingers would go down too far near...

    DA Polishing Raised Edges

I read the article from Mike on DA polishing up to raised edges on car panels that have them: https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-mike-phillips-your-detailing-questions-/90714-orbital-polishing-creases-edges.html Mike also describes using 3M blue vinyl tape to protect edges. With your...

    Griots New G9 Polisher

I would expect that the G9 uses a standard thread, since it supposedly takes the GG 5" vented backing plate. I wonder if it is because of the diameter of the shroud/handgrip that one could not use a 3" PC backing plate on the machine itself.

    Griots New G9 Polisher

I purchased the 5" Vented Griot's Backing Plate, P/N 10550 from AutoGeek, I am hoping that that will fit. I have a lot of 5.5 Lake Country Pads. It is dizzying that every mfg recommends their own pads, and now Mike recommends thin foam pads. I wish Autogeek would post a warning on older...

    Griots New G9 Polisher

Sounds like the carbon on the initial brushes or the contact spring and power lead was defective. I also noted that the head has cut outs for a D handle like the G6, but I talk to Griot's and the person told me that the unit is so ergonomic for a hand over the pad, that you don't need a D handle.

    Griots New G9 Polisher

Apparently you are doing this as a business and have a heavy hand :-) (just kidding on the hand, have to keep the pad rotating) Brushless DC motors would work even better, but I assume they would drive up the cost of the machine.
