Not even a case can protect soft aluminum from scratching... check your phone after having a case on it for oh... lets say a week of moderate use. best bet is invisishield or similar film products.. maybe xpel? I know a lot about polished and anodized/coated aluminum, really.

All about the Defelsko Paint Thickness Gauge by Mike Phillips

Thank you, I'll make sure I bring a piece of steel and aluminum chip from work (flat) and test it out to make sure its within the 3%. If this all works out, I can take on more aggressive PC jobs with a little more insurance... assurance? lol

All about the Defelsko Paint Thickness Gauge by Mike Phillips

Is there anything to look out for if buying second hand, it's out of its 2 year warranty period. One of my friend's buddy is letting his go since he moved away from detailing. So I have a chance of owning a Defelsko for a bit more than the Highline....

It will be fine if you have the right technique. Otherwise look for a DA polisher.

Basic setup for a city dweller

Sounds like you need a waterless wash kit, AG sells many, I would say grab the McKee’s 37 Waterless Wash Kit for the volume alone. (plus it has the spray bottle and MF towels.

Ceramic coating over clear coat failure

it seems to me that they just made the remaining clear/paint as shiney as possible and then put the coating on there to maintain the finish and slow/stop it from further degradation. I wish I still have all those faded panels for my rx-7s many years ago. I would try and see if polish angel can...
