    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

I actually have a photo album. I did friends and family first. If i think the guy is really on the fence I offer to do his worst pair for "cost" ($10) That is the kicker cause the difference is so stunning I always get an order to do the nicer cars on the lot. One thing that has helped a lot...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

In Knoxville Tennessee $20-$25 per set is actually a good rate to get from dealerships because there were some fools around here doing them for $10 but they did no masking and left the dealers with overspray and compound to remove, basically had to re-detail the cars. I am very careful and cover...

I tried spraying, it just takes too much time and the over-spray risk is too much. Once you get the wipe method down it goes quick. I am doing them for car dealers and they have said as long as they have been in the business they have never seen these look better. One dealer called his...

I finally got the technique down and the wipe on version works better than spray! :props: I picked up a dealership and an 8 vehicle order today. They had someone else do it before and his over spray caused them to have to re-detail the cars after he finished. I came in and wowed them with the...

    Marketing on a shoestring?

I have recently started a headlight restoration service as a side business to my regular job. I know many of you started your detailing business on the side as well and may have some advice on Marketing on a (almost non-existent) budget. I am not detailing yet so I can't do the test spot idea I...

Can anyone give me some tips in marketing this service on a shoestring? I have some cheap fliers made up to hand out at gas stations and shopping centers, I'd hate to resort to roadside signs.

Small, light, easy to use and works with a small portable compressor.

I used painter's tape/paper roller to cover the surrounding area and I have some large movers blankets I tossed over the rest or the area and the hood was up. Took just a couple of minutes to completely cover the front end of the vehicle so overspray wouldn't be a problem. I think from here on...

Actually I just did. I went to an automotive paint supply and they advised a medium urethane reducer mixed with the Helmsman. Worked beautifully and covered a large headlight easily and super smooth, was tacky dry in 5 minutes without any air movement or heat lamps.

Has anyone tried spraying this mixture? I tried the rub on and it's great for small headlights, like the Grand Marquis, but on a more expansive set of lenses it didn't work so well for me. Most of the later model foreign cars and vans have large lenses. I also wonder if some sort of Japan drier...
