    Polishing aluminum exhaust... questions.

Awesome. Thanks for that, Ray. I think if I would have done a multi-step process, it would have come up to a very nice finish but in reality the only part that is going to be seen by the vast majority of people is the little 12" section that pokes out from the intercooler return and up to the...

    Polishing aluminum exhaust... questions.

Wow, yours looks perfect. Nicely done. I think you started off with a little better product (this stuff was terrible & mandrel bent so it was almost impossible to get the bends to shine). I would have to sand it down to get perfect mirror. What was the process you used? Thanks for the...

    Polishing aluminum exhaust... questions.

Thanks. Well, the pipe pictured is the actual exhaust. Just to the left of the picture is the muffler and dump'd tip.

    Polishing aluminum exhaust... questions.

Well, I did it. First thing was cleaning off tons of tape residue with a green scrub pad and some adhesive remover. Then I cleaned the whole thing with some green cleaner. Wiped it all down with some alcohol. I used the stock pad that came with the buffer and put a microfiber bonnet on it...

    Polishing aluminum exhaust... questions.

After re-reading what I wrote, I could have been a bit more clear. During the off-season a new turbo went on the car which required new 4 inch plumbing. We're only talking about 4ish feet of it and only a little bit of it shows unless people are really looking at the car or a well timed...

    Polishing aluminum exhaust... questions.

Hey guys, A good friend of mine just got new exhaust for his race car. It is all 3+ inch aluminum but looks like crap. I did a test section with some mothers alum & mag polish with a small dremel buffing pad and it came out looking pretty fantastic. The car is pretty nice and this would really...

    Is auto glym worth $20?

Yes. It is worth it. It was worth the 34.99 retail too.

    This make anyone else cringe.......

Since you live in NJ, I'm surprised that you don't know that this(underlined) is incorrect. You can (and will) be stopped and fined for not removing snow and ice from all 'exposed surfaces'. I passed numerous 'check points' where there were cars being pulled over and written for not cleaning...

    This make anyone else cringe.......

I use a very soft brissel broom on my truck, its the best I can do. The car is tucked away in a garage.

    Garages... buying a house

Well, this house had better be the right house because they accepted my offer. Now that it is turning into a reality, I'm quite excited and can't wait. I think that my expectations were really too high for what I can really afford. After really going back over the pictures and videos of the...

    Garages... buying a house

That's a great point. We do have some terrible winters here, but that's what my truck is for. I'd keep the car in the garage and the second bay would be a project that I'm looking to start (v8 ranger) with my 4x4 out in the driveway. The heat in the garage comes from a natural gas fed heater...

    Garages... buying a house

I grew up in construction, so fixer-uppers are within my view. I'm not really keen on doing any major work (e.g. Lifting a house to replace rotted/termite eaten beams) and I'm considering that gutting the kitchen and bathroom in most places will be required. I'm a single guy with no kids and a...

    Garages... buying a house

No flood damage. All the new stuff, the hardwood floors, because they want to sell the house. With over a year of inventory on the market, if you don't have updates the house is either not going to sell or it is going to sell for considerably less. The guy does all the work himself. The...

    Garages... buying a house

I've been looking at a lot of houses lately and one of the top things I'm looking for is either an over sized 1 car or a two car with no center posts. I've looked at roughly 40 houses in the last month and if they have a decent garage, the rest of the house is below par. Some have really...

    Best Chrome Wheel Cleaner

For my chrome wheels, the best I've experienced to get off brake dust and general daily driving crud is the Mothers Mag and Alum cleaner. While it doesn't 'turn black' as it does when used for its titled purpose, I find that it quickly cuts through all of the crap easily and leaves a great...
