My 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot, the white food safe ones, the GG is loose enough where it falls out if I turn the bucket upside down. I think it just depends on the brand. I'm sure the tolerances aren't very strict either.

You could also try Chemical Guy's Citrus wash mixed full strength to remove any previous layers of protection.
