I am planning on using Lake Country 5.5 x 7/8 pads on a griot's 6" DA. I got to thinking about the thickness of these pads. At only 7/8" could that possibly be a problem with the backing plate contacting the paint? I will be using Meguiar Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish. Keep in mind...

Thanks for the response. I really don't know which brand. Lake Country has so many different kinds of pads, but if I want to use the Lake Country pads what would be your recommendation as to size and type of pads. They make dimpled, plain flat, etc. So what would you recommend for size...
