I think the water here in Denver is a bit hard, but if by "coatings that create a hydrophobic surface" you are also including wax, I don't think so. The water has not changed in the last 6 months, and I have had no spotting issues in 30 years. But if you mean other brands of ceramic coats, I...
Rain water is not the problem. The half of my car that faces away from the sprinklers is still perfect. But I agree it must be something about the coating itself because if my water is hard enough to cause spots this bad then I would surely have had some spots on just waxed or even unwaxed...
Thanks. I guess I wish I had known that in advance, but I probably would have tried it anyway. Oh well, it's pretty intolerable as is so I guess it's coming off.
Crazy thread title, I know. I have lived in the same house for 30 years and parked my cars the same way for just as long, including this car for two years before I coated it with CSL and EXO in the spring. Due to a tiny garage at a 100+ year old house, one car is outside and parked in way that...
I'm not sure I understand the physics of why this happens or what can be done about it. I have a PC DA polisher. Even with a small foam pad I get good pad rotation even with firm downward pressure so long as I am polishing a flat surface or any surface with full pad contact. But if I try to...
Just to follow up on my original question, it turned out that I had not made a CSL error, but had not fully corrected a small spot where I wet sanded. I corrected it and spotted on CSL and EXO and I cannot see any evidence of the CSL spot repair in any light.
I was all proud of myself for a successful first-time coating application until I noticed one spot on the hood about half the size of my thumb where I did not get all the residue off. Of course I did not notice until after applying EXO on top. So now what? I know that a selling point of CSL is...
I have 303, and use it on door panels and dash, but I have had the impression it does not last for exterior use - that it is gone after a wash or a rain or two. No? Maybe I'll try the Sonax stuff. I'm not interested in any of the back to black type products because any I have used are either...
As I said in my last thread, I am detailing a 2015 BMW 650i convertible. If you are familiar with those cars, the rear of the convertible top sits on a rather large platform of pebble grain black vinyl - at least I assume it's vinyl, it's not really soft like an interior door panel. Much of it...
Every DIY video and article about ceramic coating shows application to perfect paint, but that is not always realistic. My car I am detailing while the virus has me home bound is a dark blue 2015 BMW 650i convertible with 38,000 miles. The paint corrects to near perfection except the first 8...
I searched, but did not find the answer but suspect it has been answered before. I am about to apply Crystal Serum Light and wondered if you typically apply such coatings to headlights and tail lights as well, or does the coating literally only bond to clear coat? Thanks.
