i have a box truck with extruded alum trim on the bottom of the box, and i have used "00" steel wool on it to bring back the shine and that worked wonderful, i used it with mothers polish, not sure if this would be too aggressive for your purpose but it worked wonders for me

Great looking set up! Before i installed my unit heater in my garage, i used a propane spot heater or "sun flower" type heater, it clamped right on the twenty pound propane tank, and just went out an hour or so before i wanted to work in my garage and it would get it up to a nice working temp...

just a thought,, could you go to the paint manufactures web site and see what they recommend?

i have used OO steel wool and a good metal polish/cleaner and the steel wool really made short work of it. my two cents worth!
