Roll Call - What's your real first name?

Quick! help me!! I just realized that the potential "responses" to my replying to this request could go on all day. Every time someone sends in their name it's coming to my email as a response to my post. How do I stop this?

old megs 105 vs new 105

I have been using the 105 with a flex 3401 for almost a year now with great results. Hard to use in the heat of summer, but great final results even with the da.

old megs 105 vs new 105

Yep, it's out there! I believe it was even here on Auto geek that I saw it. I here that using Gloss-it pad primer (evp) extends the working time of 105 with great results. That's why I had the question actually....if it works well with the old version then I will order that one. Hmmm?

old megs 105 vs new 105

Hey guys, Did a quick search of this question but I didn't see this exactly. I want to order some more 105 but I see there is a new version that is "DA" friendly. I do use a DA, but I just figured out how to really get good results with the old version. How different is the new stuff...

    detailing an enclosed trailer

Ok, so there's a void that needs to be filled. Maybe some smart guy or gal out there will hear about this and start a new trailer company that specializes in "real" paint jobs. Somewhere, somebody realized they could get away with this minimal paint technique and the rest of the companies jumped...

    detailing an enclosed trailer

That's kind of what I was thinking too! I appreciate the advice Jon. I think having them sign off is an excellent idea. I have checked two other trailers and they both showed the same lack of paint. Odd, isn't it?

Paint reading gauge and digital optical microscope??

Just looking at the Carson website. They seem to have a decent assortment, but I have no experience with them! They seem to be pretty cheap. I'm sure someone will fill in this question soon.

Paint reading gauge and digital optical microscope??

From what I understand, the gauges that are in that price range are not worth the money. The readings are not accurate or consistant. This is not a tool you want to be "off" in any way. I bought a unit from promotorcar called the ETG 2. Expensive (over $ 700 to the public I believe), but easy to...

    detailing an enclosed trailer

This is one that has been bugging me for a long time...Why is the paint on enclosed trailers so stinking thin? I'm talking about the regular work trailers we use for detailing, or landscaping, carpentry etc. I have polished them lightly in the past to decent results, but the other day a...

    porter cable vs flex

Dark Horse says 105 is esy to work with...he assures you! I'm sorry but I recently spoke with at least twenty different detailers who all agreed that 105 is not easy to use. Gloss It even came out with a product they claim makes the 105 useable, based on some form of an oil. The problem with 105...

    Frustrated with Microfiber

Try huck towels, which are actually surgical towels. you can get them at ECR wipes. No lint at all. Strong and manageable. As others have mentioned, wash them by themselves, use liguid detergent.....and very importantly do not wash them in a machine right after you have washed your greasy...

Losing the battle against water spots

Comment on Supraturbo94 suggestion to get a cheap 10x10 canopy....be careful just how cheap you go, and from my experience a 10x10 is never big enough! The only cars I've ever done that fit under the canopy (totally in the shade) was a vw bug or a Toyota fj, maybe a jeep too! Cheap canopies are...

Flex 3401 to replace PC 7336

I agree! You are going to love that new Flex. I just started using it last week and it already is my favorite tool. It is replacing the Cyclo for me. I will still use the cyclo for tight spots and for carpets (with the brushes). The level of finish that it brings in a short amount of time is...

    Now that's a garage!!!

I think it would be cool to sit just outside each garage door and lay some rubber! That way when you closed all the doors you could look at each set of tracks and make your friends try to guess which car is behind each door. Juvenile...eh!!!!
