1967 Chevelle Malibu, exterior + interior

Amazing work! It honestly did not look that horrible to begin with. We've all seen plenty of rides here that started off WAY worse.

Dealer wipe downs for $1 per car?

The kind of work you do is probably worth $5-10 per car depending on your market like you said. If you're cleaning dealer cars, then the effort you're putting into each car is about right since the vehicles are more than likely not very dirty. The overall consensus from professional detailers...

    Cigarette smoke

DrivePur if you can afford it, otherwise try CarPro's So2Pure. They have it on sale on their site for the bigger 1000 ml bottle.

Mayday Mayday! Oxidation/clear coat failure comes back!

Holy crap that 2 year review has me sold on OptiCoat now. I've gotta get this stuff if only for these situations of clearcoat failure.

Will freezing temps ruin compounds, polishes, and waxes?

I don't have personal experience in the matter and don't feel like chancing it so I bring all my products inside. From what I've read from others, both very cold temps and very high temps can potentially ruin your products. If your garage is well insulated it definitely helps, but for me it's...

What do you use for Fabric proctection?

Since this thread seems to be somewhat back alive, has anyone tried Rust-Oleum's NeverWet? This stuff is truly amazing when it comes to protection from stains. I am somewhat hesitant to try it in cars because of the fumes. I'm curious how the fumes are for other products like Scotchguard and...

360 AIO transformation of a Peugeot

Re: 360 AIO transformation of a Pegeout Looks very nice. About how long did it take with the AIO?

    My prices

Almost every detailer that has their own site here charges around $40 per hour or more. I wish I came up with that price myself, but I didn't. I got it all from Renny's book, and I trusted his opinion because of his extensive experience. Now you've got me doubting myself though. =P

    My prices

Ah yes the pricing dilemma. If you've read Renny's book, you'll know to charge AT LEAST $40 per hour. Here's the rub, when you're starting out you aren't as fast and efficient as possible. What I do is I detail the vehicle and time myself on everything. For example, I recently did an exterior...

Newbie. How to get rid of small buffing scratches

It sounds like you may need to use a finishing polish, and/or buff the product on the paint longer. There was another thread with the exact same topic and this is what Mike suggested from what I remember.

Starting Business Out Right! Help me out?

I'd say you're on the right track. One thing someone else said is about the pricing and the way some things are worded. As long as you're sure you can do everything listed REALLY well, and in the exact time you specify, then I'd recommend upping the price some and adding more services to the...

    Question for the mobile guys

I did a lot of research on this subject as I was interested in an inverter over a generator. I came across conflicting findings; most instructions for inverters specifically say do not run them from your car battery, so you have a liability there. Also, if you want to power a shop vac, you're...

I am all kinds of confused about headlight "sealers"

Unfortunately if you don't want the headlight getting cloudy/yellow within a few months again, you gotta use a sealer. I would recommend using the one Nick posted about, since it lasts a couple years.

How to prep your car for winter

Don't quote me on this, but from what I've read tires have an additive called antiozonant that prevents the tire from prematurely degrading. Apparently this stuff just seeps out of the tire constantly. Tire dressing is the best way to get rid of it by basically just masking it. Wikipedia, the...
