Your opinion on body/paint repair on used cars

Now if I were to buy a pre-owned vehicle, would you recommend a FULL respray with necessary body work(such as the gouge I described in my original post) or spot work. Now I understand that budget, overall paint condition, and degree of perfection a person is looking to achieve will affect the...

Your opinion on body/paint repair on used cars

Is the paint matching that far down the road THAT much of a concern? The tone you have seemed like it's a serious concern, although I understand it is because resprays aren't cheap.

Your opinion on body/paint repair on used cars

I'm considering buying a used Mazda Miata. I've looked at plenty and have noticed that some of the really well mechanically maintained cars have a few scrapes, rock chips, etc. on them. The degree of them varied also. An example was a scrape(or better described as a gouge) on the plastic...

    Paint peeling

So what're the concerns of a paint crack/peeling issue on a plastic bumper? I'm hoping to keep this car for the next 2-3 years and I see this as a problem.

    Paint peeling

It's plastic. It shouldn't rust unless chemistry decides to kick me in the A.

    Paint peeling

A little mishap happened this morning. There a few light scratches that should be polish-able that was the result of scraping my bumper along an object. However, under the headlight paint is PEELING off. Usually a bumper respray would be recommended but budget does not allow for that. What...

Obsessed car detailer from holland says hello

Very nice car. I was thinking about getting a GTI here in the US but opted for a Mazdaspeed 3 instead. Why is your gas pedal like that? Do all GTI's have the pedal all the way to the floor?

Need help getting rid of spider web marks.

If you identified the swirl remover that you used would be a great help to us in helping you. The likely solution now would be to use a less aggressive polish with a white polishing pad to burnish a high the paint into a high gloss.

    Possible to polish TOO MUCH?

Thank you trhland for your input. Although that can be very reassuring, there are other variables to consider that killr and black both mentioned such as washing/drying techniques, abrasive properties of the polish, pad use, car, etc. From the input I've received and the reading I've done...

    Possible to polish TOO MUCH?

Yes, that does help. Considering this car will be my daily driver, worrying about small scratches and lesser calibur problems is just too obsessive for my tastes. Obviously, I'll still work on the car with qd's and the like. That spurs more from the need/want to touch the car as a car...
