thank you everyone!
yes, the last step would be Sonax sealant, done by hand, not random orbital polisher.
I was told that Meguiars PRC isn't strong enough to last on it's own. I really like how it reduces swirls and scratches.
on most cars this is my process...I just wonder if I can cut out the Dura Gloss step
wash
clay
correct with orange pad 105 or Meguiars PRC
yellow pad Dura Gloss 105 or yellow #26
sealant by hand.
thanks,
Jeff
an awesome 1 step correction is Meguiars paint reconditioning cream. It's inbetween 105 and 205. if I need more, I go to 105.
after, I'll wax with Dura Gloss 105 then seal.
I just detailed a dakota that was recently repainted, single stage.
I used the meg's PRC and an orange foam pad. It had tons of oxidation, hazing, and light scratches. The pad had tons of red paint on it, but turned out AMAZING.
I had my girlfriend clean the inside, while I was outside.
she'd be on the drivers side, I'd be on the passenger side.
worked out okay. I just had to give her a heads up on what I expected and a quick how to. (it was at my house, I have people drop off their cars)
I charge $20 an hour. I have a friend that brings me dirty cars that have been 8, 10, 15, and 17 hours to:
wash, clay, correct, wax, seal, vacuum, tires, wheels, etc.
I use a porter cable 7424.
If the prices gets too high, I'll cut them a deal.
nope! no color on the pads (thank goodness!)
it's a black vehicle, with a black circular shape. The black circle has no flake in it. The flake is surrounding the black circle.
this is really strange, since I'm currently detailing a 2010 Range Rover with the exact same circle in the drivers side door. It's missing all of the metallic flake.
I thought I did it with the buffer. But it's not coming out with cleaner wax. Really Strange!
awesome...that's what I was looking for. Thank you.
I used some OxyClean on a micro-fiber along with PurePower wipes. Most of the make-up, coffee stains, hair, lipstick, and what ever else was removed last night.
great replies, thank you!
I was referring to a gouge in the plastic interior pieces. Like when you scrape your shoes getting in and out. Or deep scrapes into plastic.
I have a 2010 Range Rover with make-up all over the sun visors, and interior. Can I just use one of those pre lubricated lysol pull out cloths? (or the generic cleaning cloths)
also, what can you do for heavy scratches or gouges in plastic?
perhaps heat?
