As a hobbyist, IMO, Meguiar's Ultimate products are the best OTC products for the money. Cheap, effective, and readily available at my local Wal-Mart.

Here in Minnesota we have a product called Bugs-B-Gone. Bugs-B-Gone is NOT a petroleum based product - it works by neutralizing the pH of the bugs guts adhering to your bumper. Spray it on, allow to soak for a few seconds, and simply wipe off with a microfiber towel.
