I drive a 2003 Edge and I'm in the same boat as you. Finally decided to just have the entire bumper and the plastic molding completely redone..
The rest of the truck looks fabulous but the bumper really gets under my skin. Once done I'll seal it and then apply 2 coats of Collonite 845.

I use PS21S as a wheelcleaner and I'm thinking that should leave the 845 in tact....I thought the brush would be the one to potentially remove the protection layer...
