I would be a bit hesitant to clay or nanoskin a vehicle without being able to follow up with a machine polish. It has been my experience that even with a light clay fine marring can occur. I'd suggest using a friend's garage and maybe getting a cheap Porter Cable or just not clay bar the vehicle.
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't these older vehicles have single stage paints? It would seem that polishes and techniques uses to service this paint would be different that modern vehicles. I'd personally like to see the GREEN/WHITE Rupes combination on a modern vehicle or something that a...
Is there really a need for the Rupes white pads? Has anyone used these after Rupes yellow and seen a real improvement in finishing ability? Would any of you think twice about forgoing the white pads and polish entirely and just finishing down with a yellow pad and a finishing polish? I am...
I am searching for a 4 inch foam pad to use with the application of HD Speed. The car is in very good condition with minor swirls. If someone can recommend a 4 inch polishing foam pad brand/color that is sold on Autogeek it would be greatly appreciated.
I agree with this. The 7424 did not impress me with 5.5" pads on it. I actually thought the performance was decent with 4" pads, though. I am going to get a Rupes 15 for 5.5" pads and see if there's an improvement.
Would something like HD SPEED fit the bill or does it not have enough cut? I have not used it yet. People seem to be using it for 1-step polishes though. Just curious...
Please expound on the reason for the quick sale of the 15 ES. You seem to be a fan of the 15 Mark II yet were so turned off by the 15 ES that you sold it in three days? Are the two tools really that dissimilar?
The 40% increase in power was been discussed here from 15 ES to 15 Mark II but I don't quite understand how it's possible if the motor is the same. The description on Autogeek says the power draw is the same but it "feels" more powerful. I don't doubt that it feels more powerful, but how much...
I decided to get the standard 15 ES and spend the extra $100 on some Lake Country ThinPro pads and this HD Speed everyone is raving about. I got a $15 bottle of HD Speed to go with it. Thanks for all the input guys.
I'm not sure if anyone else has tried this but I used diluted CarPro P.E.R.L. on Chrysler 300 leather. I'm fairly certain that this is coated leather. The results were pretty great. It wasn't greasy at all and seemed to clean the leather at the same time. It gave the black leather a very slight...
I like your logic. I just need some extra convincing to spring for the Mark II. Is the 12 gauge the proper cord for these Rupes machines? I was just assuming that's what they require.
What do you guys make of this "HD" version with the attached 25' cord? Should I just get a decent 12 gauge extension cord or spend the $40 on the HD? I never had an issue attaching an extension cord to my Porter Cable but I suppose it'd be nice to have an all in one.
