Hi Mike,
Not to bump up an old thread, but are there any specific clear coat safe compounds you’d recommend? I tried Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound after usingy GG G5 and Boss Orange foam pads with BF One Step didn’t fully remove the stains I had from 10 droppings while at a car meet today.
I...
Thank you! I took that picture at this last weeks Iron Gates Cars and Coffee event. It was a brisk 30 degrees. I had the top down on the way there haha!
Can't wait for spring to get her so I can put on the Ohlins coilovers and my summer setup back on it.
And I agree. Why Mazda didn't...
I never updated this thread. I ended up doing my GTI first just as it is an older car with white paint. With that one, I used just the one 6" pad I had bought and cleaned it often. It had SO much iron build up on it, probably due to running Hawk HPS brake pads and then switching to Carbotech...
Thanks Mike! PNS is definitely not fun to remove! I like the idea of the [up to 6 months of protection] as the car does sit outside, but it sounds like the BlackIce also protects/seals and will make it shine even more!
Hey Mike, question for you. I recently detailed my Miata (the repainted one) using the orange Boss pads, G9 polisher, clay and Iron-X, BF One Step, and topped it with Sonax PNS.
In the case of using Black Ice as a topper to the One Step, does that render the PNS redundant? Or can one still...
Yep, that's how I was reading into it as well. Well, I'm not going to let the Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer go to waste either. Maybe I'll look into this as the replacement.
Not to bring up an older thread, but how does Sonax BSD compare to the Optimum Car Wax? Sonax BSD offers some protectant, but doesn’t mention anything about UV protection.
I will be using BLACKFIRE One Step topped with Sonax PNS and then BSD for “upkeep” and touching up. This is my Miata...
I can only imagine how bad my Mk5 GTI will be bad after I detail my Miata first. I’ve always kept it fairly clean but it’s been a number of years since it’s been polished and has never seen Iron-X or an equivalent in almost 14 years/158k. It has been clay’d quite a bit, but we’ll see! I run...
Thanks Jay! I did end up picking up Sonax BSD as well for the inevitable birds and what not that us enthusiasts encounter haha.
Yeah, the Griots Garage equivalent of the white pads are their yellow perfection polishing pad (one tier lower than the cutting/aggressive polishing orange pad). I...
Yeah, I did read that. The GG9 only allows a 5" backplate or the included 6" backplate. Attempting to put on a 3" backing on the GG9 voids the warranty per GG directly.
Thank you so much Mike!
I will definitely do a test spot first and check out your other how to's and that YouTube video. Don't need to screw up brand new paint!
The general consensus then is that I could get away with using the BOSS orange cutting pad since it is on the 'light' side of...
Hi Mike,
First post here. I have a 2018 British Racing Green Miata Club. I ended up purchasing the following:
CarPro Iron-X
Griots Garage G9 polisher
Griots BOSS orange correction pad
BLACKFIRE One Step
Sonax Polymer Net Shield
Sonax BSD
Foam pad conditioning brush
The steps I'm planning...
