I love waxing too! I grew up around cars so during high school and college that's all I did to my car and enjoyed it. When I ceramic-coated my car, that's a different story! Cleaning is way faster, the paint looks amazing, and I don't have to spend too much time, compare to waxing it.
I personally charge for coatings from starting $1800-2500 just for paint and glass, wheels, and interior extra. Now I don't have a huge shop or any employees so I'm not gonna charge anyone 7k.

Top guys in my area charging $7000 plus for coating, correction, and like wheels off coating so I guess depends on the area too! And I’m not talking about average shops, I’m talking about reputable shops.
Yes, the top coat is only $200-$400 depending on the size so it's not as expensive as the actual coating process.
and I do not offer one step unless a customer wants me to do a paint enhancement I'd do it, but I don't offer paint correction because I work with new vehicles only.
You're absolutely right and I'm with you. and yes I do not sell my customers as " oh you get one coat and it will last forever" I'd tell them you have to maintain and get a top coat recommended by the brand of coatings, and as long you do that, it will stay"
