I'd say get the mcculloch 1385. It's $200 range, 64 oz of water, variable steam, tons of attachments, built sturdy, its light and not big at all. and most importantly it gets the job done. Mike says they "usually" have crappy attachment, well this one doesn't. It's a steamer for ANY job so it...
Talk to your customers and offer them what they want. I would at a minimum want to touch their vehicle every 6wks. If customer A wants his done every 2 weeks and customer B wants theirs once a month. You should be able to accommodate both.
You can offer customers your regular services as...
Ask the current customers calling and booking with you how did they hear about you and put some time into exploring that avenue. Whether it's from fb, google, referrals etc. also u can offer maintenance detailing to keep the customer in the loop with you. Whether it's every week or every 3...
I own the 1385 as well. It's a excellent addition to the arsenal and I highly recommend it as well. I clean the panels, carpet and seats even works great on leather seats. I noticed that I fade some panels sometimes. Mainly if it's plastic around the inside door handle where people put change...
I use the mcculloch 1385. I definitely clean interior carpets with it. I bought it to replace my extractor. It comes with a triangle brush attachment among other attachments and it's only $200. I'd say it's a good place to start

Hand sanitizer works cause it has isoprophyl alcohol in it. Alcohol by it self work . Any rubbing alcohol from your local rite aid or wherever you buy products from
Yes you can. You're gonna at least need a shop vac tho. A steamer and extractor just help you do the job more efficiently. Without those tools depending on the condition of the vehicle you're gonna have to use a lot of elbow grease and may spend more time on it.
Its very possible for you to start on the side. Work around you current life schedule.
Check local competition, determine who you're selling too. That makes a difference of pricing and what packages you would wanna offer.
You need some scrub brushes, APC and/or degreaser, window cleaner...
Yeah when you average it out 1.5 is correct. What helps tho is knowing your customers. Many of the customers that use to come thru my job are now my customers. Not MANY tho because I could take 10% of they're customers and they would STILL be OK lol. I prolly couldn't even service 10% without a...
4 detailers could do 5-6 details a day. 2 on a vehicle at a time. One person interior one exterior. Tips on saving time:
A bucket, hot water and degreaser works wonders on an interior. Just wipe! I keep my detailer paint brush close so I can get cracks and crevices. How its diluted matters. Has...
I worked at a local car wash and was a detail manager for some years. My boss made sure we had at LEAST 5 details a day. Most were interior detail plus a 2 step polish n wax. My boss showed us techniques and gave us tips to work in a more efficient manner. We did production detail but we...
Its all about your customers and your communication wit them. Based off what they tell me they're looking for I may offer them a one step and I explain to them what they're getting. They're happy with my work I'm happy with the value I captured. I think we as detailers get caught up in our work...
My process would be :
1.waterless wash
2.all in one one step (polish, glaze, sealant)
I only clay if a vehicle has over spray on it. I dont tape off anything. I use the Portercable 7424xl, and I don't know how many passes a section but I do go over most sections quite a bit. I think you should...
