Hard time removing polish from paint

I had the exact same problem detailing my car today in NorCal. It was 80+ F here and my garage was probably even warmer. The polish dried very quickly. I then tried to prime the pad using a single spray sprint of QD (ONR v3 at QD Strength), and apply 3 pea-sized polish drops - that helped...

    Top Best All-Purpose Cleaners

Is it good? I have a sample bottle from when I ordered $50+ stuff from AG and chose it as the sample, but not tried it yet.

    Sealant and Wax

I am going to seal my daily driver this weekend with fk1000p, and wax it with Collinite 845.. This car was bought in late december 2011, and has since not been sealed/wax. I just finished a road trip, and the car is pretty filthy, so wash-clay-compound-polish-seal-wax is in order.

    PCXP washer ring?

I found a compression washer at Lowes that was close enough. BTW, I pulled out a Meguiars 6" backing plate (W68DA) I have, and it turns out that the washer ring is actually glued to the backing plate! I wish Lake Country and other manufacturers did the same to make it more dummy proof (or...

"D" shaped handle for PC 7424XP?

I was wondering - a lot of people seem to prefer the "D" shaped handles that come with Megs and GG DA Polisher. The Porter Cable 7424XP comes with a side handle that can go on either sides of the polisher. Given that the machine already has holes on both sides for the side handle to go, it...

    PCXP washer ring?

Thanks. I will try to get something slightly bigger in diameter than the screw, like Mike said.

    PCXP washer ring?

I lost the washer that comes with PC XP.. that tiny little washer that goes between the pad and backing plate.. I am sure it is one of the standard size available at the hardware stores.. does anyone know what size this is, and if I can find it anywhere for really cheap (don't want to by...

    FK1000p and Collonite 845

Thanks everyone for the replies! I will try leaving fk1000p for 12-15 hours and then top it with 845. If that does not work, next time, I will either let it stay longer, or just apply 845.

    FK1000p and Collonite 845

Thanks transambrotha! That is super helpful!! I'll wait for someone to confirm the cure time before topping with 845.

    FK1000p and Collonite 845

Thanks. With the 3" or 4" pads, have you found it easy to transfer the wax to the pad? Or do you prime the pad with a QD spray before rubbing the pad in the tin? I have never used FK1000p, but it looks unusually hard! I want to try the fk1000p and 845 combo if they layer well.. Is ~15 hours...

    FK1000p and Collonite 845

I have both in my possession. For a black daily driver that is parked 8-10 hours uncovered in NorCal heat & rain, what would you suggest? Option1: FK1000p Option2: Collonite 845 Option3: FK1000p as sealant, topped with 845 (does 845 bond well to fk1000p?) Again, remember, that car is parked...

Removing Paint Transfer, OTC Products suggestions to detail my daily driver

Thanks Gordon, I will try clay and see - that was probably the only thing I have not tried on the paint transfer yet.. If anyone has other suggestions to try, do let me know.

Removing Paint Transfer, OTC Products suggestions to detail my daily driver

Hello, I have been a passive forum reader for very long, so I decided to register to ask some question. I am a complete n00b, but have gone through several articles here from Mike Phillips on how to use a DA Polisher, steps for proper detailing, etc. However, I still have a few questions that...
