Rookie need help with freshly painted car

yep, on the '59 truck I did, it was my first try. It took H O U R S! ! ! probably because I don't have a rotary polisher. Just doesn't cut fast enough with the 3401. I guess I might try the denim pads and see how that turns out.

Rookie need help with freshly painted car

Thanks for all the help. I can't say for sure I'm sanding properly because I'm really new at this. I do it by hand with 3M 1500 and 3000 discs on a pad that I hold in my hand. It's a '94 Integra (red) but don't have any pics at the moment. It had a LOT of orange peel when I started...

Rookie need help with freshly painted car

Hello, I need some help on what to do next. I bought a cheap used car and had it painted with paint from TCP Global. Not PPG but priced good and looks fine. I didn't pay much to get it painted and partly because I told the painter I'd buff it out since I've done this once before. I wet...

Freshly painted car. Fixing pinholes in surface?

Just had an experienced painter paint a car for me. Looks great but when I look up close to it, there are like pinholes on the surface. I sanded with 1500, 2000, and 3000 but they're still there. I tried to take a pic but they don't show in the pic. Should I keep sanding until they're sanded...

    '59 Chevy finally....

Guys, I'm sorry, I took a long time to update you. In April, I got a bunch of advice from you all and Mike about my truck that the painter left me with no buffing or wet sanding accomplished. With all of your help, I spent HOURS on the truck and have got to a point that I'm going to stop...

    Update on abandoned truck

Mike, when you say "polish" do you mean the 205 with the tangerine pad? I only bought the 105, 205, and wax. I didn't buy any additional polishes.

    Update on abandoned truck

Thanks, Mike. I'm going to the paint store right now to pick up some 2000 grit. It's not the Meguiar's...I think it's Norton but it will do. I don't want to wait to order it online right now...I've been working on this too long and want to get finished. These scratches can't be felt with my...

    Update on abandoned truck

This is going really slow. I wetsanded the entire truck with 1500 and started buffing with 105 but the scratches are deep in some places so I suppose I'm going to have to sand the truck again with 2000 grit. The other little problem I'm having is that in the areas I've buffed that look good...

I see no improvement with M205

Do I stay at Speed 5 on the flex I'm using?

I see no improvement with M205

ok, I'll go ahead and put it on. Can someone remind me the speed? Do I put pressure on the pad like the 105 or let the machine glide across? How do you know when to move on if I can't see any change? Jeff

Sorry, it's black, single stage paint.

I see no improvement with M205

I'm new to this and doing it for the first time. The guy that painted my truck is MIA and left me with a truck needing full colorsanding and buffing. With the advice of Mike, I bought a Flex 3401, some M105 and M205. I colorsanded with 1500 and 3000 until flat, used the 105 until all the...

    Update on abandoned truck

Nick was very gracious and stopped by on Sunday. I learned a lot from him. First, I wasn't putting enough material, second, I was working too large of an area, and third, I was not putting enough pressure on the buffer. No wonder there were scratches. It's pretty time consuming so I've done...

    Update on abandoned truck

Yes, that was my car. :) Mr. MadDog is a funny guy. I see you're in Greenville. He goes to car shows almost every weekend so you'll probably see him.
