New Tint Installed - How do I protect the film from scratches

I'm particularly concerned with scratches caused by dirt or other material being present in the window channel or whatever we call that horizontal seam that the window travels up and down through. How do I clean this channel? How often should I clean this channel? Thanks in advance!

ISO Leather Conditioner to complement Megs Leather Cleaner

Bought Megs Leather Cleaner a couple of years ago not knowing that they didn't sell a stand along Leather Conditioner (at least available in gallon size) and I'm not keen on using the Gold Class product (though I could be swayed). I have an 2006 Chrysler 300c SRTR8 and that's the leather I am...

foam gun wash dry then 2 bucket method?

I'm down here in Portland, OR. I use a foam cannon on the power washer and also a foam gun on the house hose. I usually foam, let dwell, then full rinse, foam again, and then do a 2 bucket wash. If I see that the panels are drying while I am washing the other side, I just foam it again. The...

Polish & Claybar Budget Friendly Suggestions Please

Good products that don't break the bank? Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, Polish, and Liquid Wax. All three are easy to apply, work, and remove (unless you use too much product, don;t over-saturate your pad with the Polish as it will become difficult to remove). I also have the GG 6" DA and use...

My first real detail and coating

The Dr Color Chip will need some time to properly cure. I used that stuff a few years ago and ended up polishing the chip paint right out of the chip after having waited about 3 weeks. So follow the directions or the chip repair will pull right out.

I've tried all kinds of waxes and sealants and I keep going back to Collinite 476.

The dust and pollen are what are killing me right now. Here in Portland it's raining yellow pollen right now and when I park in a garage downtown my car just attracts dust and is just sticks. Black car, too. My current regimen is wash, clay, megs uw, up, uw, and uff. Maintenance wash is megs...

Drying: Waffle or Microfiber, you prefer?

Flood the car with a hose for final rinse; leaf blower to dry wheels push water out of seams; then mist panels and glass with Megs x-press spray wax. 1st wipe with Chemical Guys Grey Matter towel on first pass, then Griots 16x16 to finish. Perfecto.

Griot's Garage random 6 inch polisher and backplate+Pads question

Backing plate on the GG random orbital will be 6" to use with the 6.5" pads. If you get 5.5" pads, get a GG 5" backing plate. I'm pretty sure that the GG 3.5" backing plate will work with those LC pads, just make sure it's all hook and loop.

How fast can you wash an "average" size car?

5 minutes to get hose setup; 10 minutes to get brushes and bucket ready for wheels; 10-15 to wash wheels. incl barrels and inside of wheel wells; 15 minutes to get power washer out and set up and fill up 2 buckets; 30 minutes to foam; dwell; rinse; foam again (I like the foam); 2 bucket wash...

Gross! What's the dirtiest car you have ever seen?

My wife puts apple cores in the side pocket and "forgets" about it. Coffee cups on the passenger floor. Loose paper all over the place. She's picky about the house being clean, but the car...fuhgetboutit...

Need to restock some sealant---Is there any WOWO sealant with 1 year durability?

I applied Megs UFF back in February here in Portland. Rainy winter, rainy spring, very hot summer. Wash my car nearly weekly and use Griots Speed Shine or Megs X-press Wax as a drying aid and my car is still beading really well. When raining, the water just rolls off at anything above 40 even...

Megs ULW & UFF - Tips for application

That's a great point about bonding to the paint and a point that has had me confused. I'm going to apply UFF to clean paint, allow to dry for 24 hours, and then apply UWW by hand (thinking the machine may somehow affect the UFF).
