    Pricing

YES! Good to see some folks that understand chime in. I've spent the past two years building a carpet and tile cleaning business, and I've built it with folks who are willing to pay for my services. I'm looking to possibly add detailing to the list of services (I already own most of the tools...

Actually, I've not done ANY detailing, professionally, yet. Just studying the process and trying to determine how to make it work. You're differentiating between show car prep and basic paint correction. Break that down for me?

    Pricing

Because they're already paying me top dollar to clean their carpet, tile and grout, and upholstery. I have a knack for making folks feel comfortable, and it makes sales pretty easy. **Disclaimer: My personal charm does not translate over the Interwebs. You may not like me, nor the questions...

Not new to business, but am new to THIS business...I'm really having trouble seeing doing just a full wash, clay, Iron-X, and paint correction for less than 4 figures. Is this unreasonable, to some of you guys who have been doing this awhile?

How do you polish small areas..?

Yep. Got to get in and do the little areas by hand, brother.

    Reflection shot

Here's a couple shots of my work truck. Waxed it 2 weeks ago. 1 is rear bed panel, the other is my hood.

My first week with my New Mytee Lite II

I use a Mytee LTD5 to clean carpet, tile and grout, and upholstery with it. Have done so since February of 2012, And I think I paid just under $3k for it. For the price range you guys are talking about, it's going to be nigh on impossible to find the kind of heat you are looking for. You have...

Buying a Water Tank, do I need a water pump along with my gas Pressure Waher?

I would suggest you find a local PW distributor, and have them look at your setup. If the PW is gas, then it's direct drive or belt driven, and I don't remember specifics, but some need them and some don't. Ask someone who does this stuff every day for a better answer.

    Time to talk about pricing...

YES! *laughing* Dude, there have been a couple times I straight up told someone they'd probably be better renting a Rug Doctor, or sent them to a competitor. So I got a question: I'm looking at the hourly rate here, and I'm a wee bit disappointed. Does it increase when you're doing things...

    Time to talk about pricing...

I'm with the rest of them. Your prices are WAY too low. You're looking at 30-45 an hour, given the pricing and time, and then you've got to take into account insurance (you WILL have a liability policy and custody/care/control, right?), materials, marketing, and so on... I know this is part...

    Paint Thickness Tester

From what I understand, the cheaper models ($600-$1200) only tell you thickness of the paint, but there is apparently a model for $12k that will tell you thickness of various layers...clear, paint, substrate, and so on.

Paint Correction, Leather and a Dinan E46 M3 by Greg Gellas of Signature Detailing

Damn fine job on the overall job. Re-dyeing the leather is not an easy job, nicely done. There are leather restoration classes you can find.

    Deep Cleaning Carpets, upholstery

NO, GOD NO! Please don't use dish soap. A lot of these guys talk about Folex. I clean carpet as my main source of income, have for the past 5 years. Contact me via PM, and I'll talk to you about products I use for that sort of thing, and distributors I use. Regardless, if you've got THAT...
