I have a section around my exhaust pipes that is rough textured plastic and it looks old and faded. I out some Meguiars ultimate black on it a while ago but it didn't last long. It almost looks dirty it's so faded. Are there any other restoration methods I should try? Currently replacing a...
Haha! No, it doesn't, but this is helpful. I haven't had a chance to look at the videos, so I'm still convinced I wasted $75 on that stuff after all. :(
Thanks. It looks like all of the electronics on mine are actually connected to the bumper itself. It looks almost like once the bumper is off you can just take your time disassembling them from the old bumper and moving them over to the new bumper. The video here shows what I mean. I'm not sure...
How hard was it to install your bumper? I've seen some videos on my particular car. Getting it on and off doesn't seem hard, but no one has actually described taking the rear camera, taillights, parking sensors etc off of the old and putting on the new one before installation. I know we have...
Thanks for all of the responses. I think I found the Michigan seller on eBay you may have used, I spoke to him and he relieved me of the concerns I had. Looks like my bumper shipped will run under $500 (although in this time the link I provided you of the OEM bumper has reduced to $800). Not...
Oh, I see. Thanks for the information. Is your bumper OEM? My only concern is if I buy a painted bumper, since my car is almost 10 years old won't the paint on it have faded, and the new bumper won't actually match the color of the bumper with new, non-10 year old paint on it? Is that really a...
Thanks, but the link I provided is OEM that comes PAINTED already. All I have to do is install.
Now I just need to know if anyone can tell me the quality of "Axalta Premium Waterborne" paint as I have no clue.
Has anyone ever heard about this website where you buy a pre-painted OEM bumper?
EDIT: I actually just talked to the owner. This is what he said about the paint they use, and then I later asked about swirling and he had the 2nd response here:
"We use Axalta's premium waterborne line for the...
Oh I didn't know that; I thought the coating was another layer so to speak. I too would have thought soft paint, but as I pointed out this was not a problem whatsoever the initial 2 years or so after the paint job. That just doesn't make sense to me.
Do I have any other option than a repaint?
I have a 2012 Camaro in a metallic black coat. A few years ago someone backed into me and I have my rear bumper replaced/painted. Little did I know the body shop did a very bad job. The first couple of years, oddly, there were no noticeable issues. But about 2 years ago I started noticing heavy...
I called the company who sent the part, as they "guarantee OEM fit or better," and told them it did not fit right, and they refunded me 100% for the part.
So, it may not look perfect, but it's kind of hard to be pissed anymore when I literally got it for free.
The first two sent were rejected, the shop said the third was good to go. So...i assumed they were not lying. Hence why I'm not sure if this was the fault of the shop or the part, and am asking advice on what to do.
I actually asked them if I could purchase a bumper and they said that's fine. I asked how much they would charge me if I purchased through them, and I told them I could get one for cheaper. I don't do this all very often, so for me it was more or less just saving some money which the shop seemed...
I purchased a CAPA aftermarket bumper from a reputable wholesaler.# When I got my car back from the shop I noticed small indentations under the side markers on the bumper on both sides, which effectively look like dents under a reflection from a few feet away.# See attached.
