APC will definitely strip or at the least weaken the sealant on the wheels. Since you are sealing the wheels and plan to wash frequently, you shouldn't need anything other than car soap to scrub them clean. If the car soap isn't enough to get them clean it's time to APC and re-seal.

Make sure you clean it off real good. I would do a compound and then a finishing polish with the Porter Cable. Ultimate Compound + Ultimate Polish are pretty user friendly. If you are comfortable with using compound you could step up to M105 + M205. I am not guarenteeing that will clear it up...
Unfortunately if your fingernail catches (unless it's BARELY catching, in this case you could possibly smooth it out) that's usually a sign that it is through the clearcoat. In this case you will not be able to buff it out.:cry:
I've always had issues with dealerships still washing it when I tell them not to so I feel your pain!
1 and 3 I'm not 100% sure but for 2, why not optiseal the wheels as well? APC won't protect them it will just clean them.
There are a TON of products to choose from for a reason ;)
..and yes it's so they can make more money:dblthumb2:
Try to simplify your process and not get caught up in the hype. It's all in the technique.
If you use something like Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax as a drying aid after every wash you will be good.
A coating will be less work and last longer, but in my opinion less fun :xyxthumbs:
I think you would do fine starting out with an AIO. I myself use Griots One-Step Sealant and it's pretty easy to work with. It will take some of those scratches out and fill the deeper ones.
If you want to go to something with more cut I would suggest a finish polish like James suggested...
A wax typically won't last you a year on a DD. I use 2 layers of Collinite 845 (almost a hybrid sealant/wax) with 6 months protection.
To last a year you will need something more towards a coating like Opti-Coat. Unfortunately I don't have much experience in this area so hopefully others can...
Just wanted to give an update. Chemical Guys won't send me a MSDS sheet until I buy the product but they were able tell me the PH level is 8. So this makes it relatively close to neutral, almost too close to believe...
