Getting old sealant off to prep for vinyl wrap

No wash/soap is going to entirely remove a sealant. High end wraps involve a lot of surface prep; a wash, decontamination wash(tar remover and iron remover), wash again, clay, light polish, ipa/eraser wipe down. The polish will remove any sealant and clean surface.

    Griots New G9 Polisher

I received my G9 Saturday and have about 8 hours on it. I ordered the 5” plate and pretty much stayed It. I compounded and polished a 2001 Lexus sedan. I like the G9 a lot, it’s not as tight feeling as a Rupes but at this price it’s amazing. i agree the handgrip could be a bit bigger. I...

    Microfiber towels not rinsing clean??

Check and clean the washers drain trap. I bet it’s clogged enough to slow down the drain cycle. Then get an old bath towel and run a cycle with a cup of baking soda and 2 cups of white vinegar.

    Carpro triple threat

I love Essence+Essence Plus combination. I've been doing the same thing, polish and some correction with Essence, wait an hour or two (clean up) and use CarPro Gloss pads to apply Essence Plus. It looks amazing and on my mostly garage kept car I skip Reload entirely. A couple washes and 5 months...

Entry level combo that's made me a ton of $$$

I am loving Essence Plus which I bought earlier this year by mistake. After correcting my personal I decided to try it, back in July. I put Essence Plus essentially same way GG with black pad at speed 3. I applied it kind of thick and didn’t buff until I was done with whole car, plus an hour...

    Wheel cleaner vs Iron Remover

I used to use Sonax wheel cleaner but a couple years ago switched to carPro IronX for the iron remover. I buy it by the gallon. For general wheel/tire cleaning I use BleechWhite, it works and cheap. I feel IronX is too harsh for regular use. I’ll disagree on not letting it dwell. I want it work...

    Wheel cleaner vs Iron Remover

Don’t use iron remover every wheel cleaning, to expensive and too harsh. About every other wheel detail I use it. My process; is first spray off with pressure wash hose, apply regular wheel cleaner, brush and dwell a few minutes, rinse and let dry a bit(usually blow off it a bit, doesn’t need to...

    CarPro Hydrofoam users...please chime in!

I use HydroFoam a lot with 2 of our cars but don’t recommend using it in a foam gun/canon. You don’t want get it on everything especially the windows. I fill my wash bucket with about 4 gallons and add 3oz of HydroFoam. Wash a panel at a time and try avoid getting on windows.

Does Carpro essence gloss extreme need IPA/Eraser

Ill be using a Griots polisher with either 6” or 5.5” MF pads. I think the Porter is similar to the Griots. Why speed 6 on shorter throw? My thinking is the higher speed will create more heat which will cause Essence to cure? faster? i have some fine scratches to correct and was hoping to just...

    Tiny spots from waterless wash.

What is the cause of polymer spotting. I've seen this before didn't know the cause and was on a car that had BF Crystal Seal applied a month prior.

Pearl White Paint, How Do I See Swirls?

I admit, that thought crossed my mind! I did put on some "reader" glasses for some areas because of my eyes are getting old.

Pearl White Paint, How Do I See Swirls?

This is the trick! I recently did "paint correction" on my Summit White Camaro. I tried all sorts of shop light combinations and in the sun but couldn't see scratches that I knew were there. Bought the Rupes Pen Light and used it in dark garage and was horrified of all the scratches I hadn't...

    Removing Spots on Plastic

I would try Meguiars 205 fine polish. I routinely use it on plastics to remove scratches and containments. First clean well, maybe even clay bar.

    Reusing pads with different polish

Ive used these pads several times with Blackfire Total Polish and Seal and this is clean as I can get them. I want to use Car Pro Essence polish but I think I should use fresh pads instead. (Going to use Essence polish on wife's car since I already did Camaro a month ago with the last of my BF...
