Ooooh that smell: Favorite smelling products

Am I the last one still using Poorboys wheel sealant? I'm not even sure it works, but I'm addicted to the smell.

    Paint Protection Film expectations

The only prior experience I have with PPF is from about 2005 when all I saw were half covered hoods with yellow cracking film and wax lines. Not impressive. I haven't looked or talked about them for 10+ years. Now that I have this 2 year old film I'm just trying to sort out what to expect...

    Paint Protection Film expectations

I'm about 99% sure I have LLumar on the hood. I spoke with the dealer and they indicated this is what they use on all the cars. There is a local installer of this product. Should I stop by there and see what they say about it? Or is this just a waste of time? I read that the low end product...

    Paint Protection Film expectations

Both great questions! I'm about 100% sure this is not a factory installed product. I bought this car used from a BMW dealer, and they didn't even know it had PPF until I showed up to pick it up and asked. I was able to have a sales person there get me the prior owners email, but he hasn't...

    Paint Protection Film expectations

All- A bit ago I posted about how I was getting a BLACK Macan with PPF on the front. I've driven the car for a few weeks (fun!) and now it's time to clean it up a bit. Being that it's scratch color...I mean black, I'm aware that I'll be in for some effort. The first area of concern is the...

New ride came with PPF, care question

I don't know what brand it is. I've got the dealer looking into a couple of things from the prior owner for me. I'll add that to the list. Thanks! I also use the liquid form of the Wolfgang, so I'll have a few options of the stuff on hand. Great advice, thanks! Today I used a clay mitt...

New ride came with PPF, care question

Thanks Mike! I'll be safe around any edges of the film with the buffer and give it a nice smooth finish with the Wolfgang! I'm not thrilled by PPF, but then I had to be dragged into the synthetic protection products too, so I must be old school.

New ride came with PPF, care question

Hi all! I picked up a mid life crisis. Macan S; Black with RED leather. More to come about this. :xyxthumbs: The front has PPF. I've never had a car with this and I want to make sure I don't mess this up. My plan is to do the full detail when I get it home in a week. 2 bucket, ironX, clay bar...

    Drying tool advice

Update all- So, I started to research a blower, and that's when I remembered my GIANT craftsman shopvac has a detachable motor with a cone shaped attachment to make the insane blowing even more intense. I tried it last night and it really blew the water out of the cracks well! The "bad" thing...

    Drying tool advice

Having installed many swirls over the years drying the cars, I thought I'd try to resolve the issue. First stop was picking up a variety of GOOD MF drying towels and that's helped quite a bit. Now there is a black car in the garage and I feel I need to up the game even more. Am I better off...

Catch me up to speed please

Ok, this product is interesting. 5+ years?!? Have you used it on black? Does it actually work? I mean resist swirls. I'd had to have a few swirls and have to polish them out and strip the coating off at the same time. I pi was thinking these multi year sealants just weren't worth the risk...

    Getting customers

Sounds a little bit like medical imaging. I've seen people reschedule their 15 min exam enough times that it takes a half day to get it done. Sure plays hell with the productivity numbers. Some industries can charge a reschedule fee if the appointment is not kept within a certain period of...

Catch me up to speed please

Super thanks for all the helpful replies! This is a great forum, much more interactive than it was "back in the day". I think I'll go out today and shine up the hood on my car and make sure it's still a skill I remember. Some of the sealant products have me intrigued, so I may even pick up...

Catch me up to speed please

Hi all, I've been "out of the scene" for a few years. I think somewhere around 2008 I hung up my Porter cable, had a kid, and worked way too much. My wife is taking deliver of a new X1 (Sapphire Black) M-Sport as soon as they get done unloading it from the ship and driving it across country...
