I just got a porter cable 7424 and I'm not sure if it is defective or not. There are 5 clicks between each speed settings from 1-5 but from 5 to 6 there is no gradual adjustment (it's either 5 or 6). That doesnt seem correct but I have no clue...Anybody out there with one that can tell me if...

This may be a 101 questions but does it make a difference if I clay before I polish or is that just a waste of time????
