I like to spray on panel and then the microfiber towel before spreading it out. Swap towels every section using the last drying towel as the next spreading one.

I have seen...Take a hole punch to a piece of 1500 to 3000 sandpaper make a few small pieces and then glue it to the top of a pencil with an eraser.
