    Opinions on "paying dues"?

I've had 3 more customers since my last post and have made the effort to worry about getting experience. I did, however, have to tell somebody no who came up to me while I was working on another customer. I gave him my name and number and he called me the next day wanting me in to do 3 auction...

    Opinions on "paying dues"?

I did my first customer yesterday. In the end, even with a $10 dollar tip, I was only at $18/hr before taking into account the products I used. He was excited and satisfied by the work, but I need to start raising my prices because I'm not willing to cut corners or do work that isn't my best...

    Opinions on "paying dues"?

That's why I decided to go into it versus going back into retail. I really enjoy getting to make a car pop. I also worked for a couple of dealerships and the corners I was taught to cut just felt wrong, 25 cars in an hour takes the satisfaction out of transforming a car. I am at at least 1 car...

    Opinions on "paying dues"?

Thank you everyone for the responses! I have my prices set for about $25 an hour for the 2 customers I have Thursday and Friday (each have multiple vehicles). mwoolfso: I would like to work my way into more quality vehicles or quality customers, but at this point I am just trying to get...

    Opinions on "paying dues"?

Hey everyone! I am in college and starting to do detailing as a side thing. I know detailing is word of mouth and I had a lady recommend me to another person based solely on the phone conversation. Right now I feel like the prices I have given are quite low. What i'm wondering about is that a...

Better Results with M105 vs Pinnacle Heavy Cut/BOSS Finishing

Thanks for all of the input! The XMT was one of the free gifts so I decided to see what it could do. I need a little bit more aggressive pad and I'll pick up the rest of the BOSS line, too. I'm trying to find something I like, anyway. Any other recommendations?

Better Results with M105 vs Pinnacle Heavy Cut/BOSS Finishing

It's the XMT #4. Autogeek Swirl Removers & Compounds Comparison Chart This chart shows it is supposed to have more cut than the 105.

Better Results with M105 vs Pinnacle Heavy Cut/BOSS Finishing

Hey everybody! Out of curiosity, I decided to do half and half of the hood of my scratched up jalopy trail rig of a Cherokee. I did 2500, 5000 grit and then went from there to test polishes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Using a PC7424xp and orange pad for each application, using just M105 on one...

    Rinseless Wash and Nanoskin Mitt

I got my toys in and got the chance to try them out. I LOVE the mitt and the rinseless wash is much easier to work with in the Florida heat than trying to get water off quickly without spots!

    Rinseless Wash and Nanoskin Mitt

Hello! I have ordered some stuff to further my detailing career to advertise "environmentally friendly" including ONR and a nanoskin mitt. My question is how should I go about using a rinseless wash and the mitt? Would it be safe to use the two together or should I use a normal wash mitt to...

Do I Have The Right Mindset?

Hello everybody! A while ago I posted asking if, as a college student, I should get a normal part-time job or do my own thing detailing. Fast forward to now, after doing hobby detailing for a few years and really getting into it, I thought that being a dealership detailer would be the perfect...

    Water Sheeting Method

Hey everybody! I don't recall who it was I had heard this from on this forum, but I was at my wits' end with having waterspots ALL over the freshly washed car because I did not dry it RIGHT after and let the Florida sun get to it. I read about the sheeting method and it has made the process a...

    Dumb for first polisher?

I got the PC, and if I end up starting to do more paint corrections, I'm going to invest in a flex. The PC is nice, but I really should have gone for the forced rotation.

I GIVE UP! ('00 XJ Trail Queen)

When I first got it, I took the polisher to it. After about 30 minutes, I thought about what the paint will be going through and ended up stopping right there and just doing my LSP. But I am loving the jeep life! The little station wagon also is perfect to fit all my detailing stuff in!

I GIVE UP! ('00 XJ Trail Queen)

Luckily, she was not pristene when I got her so I did not have to deal with the first trail tattoos and bumps/bruises! I could never get a new 4wd for that reason, unless there is a dealer option for scratching....oh wait!
