If the extension cord you're using is too long you'll have too much voltage drop across the wire. When dealing with motors, as voltage drops, current rises, which can overheat the motor. Could that be a cause? Maybe you recently started using a different cord? - Helder

I've had really good luck with WETS on my wife's Mazda 3. The durability is going on about 5 months without reapplication on the cowl and window trim. The front bumper needs reapplication because of all the abuse it sees. - Helder

I agree with 90sedan. Start with the easy stuff, but it could end up being the head gasket. It's not summer, but when the head gasket leaks into the coolant passages, it can boil the coolant and you'll be able to hear the bubbling in the overflow tank when you park the car after a longish...

In that first picture it looks like you have a decent-sized crack in the cast aluminum housing. Maybe you set or dropped the DA down on the ground? It looks like gear lube for the orbital mechanism to me.
