Good to know! I'm in LA proper but that's really not a terrible drive from Huntington Beach and I'm curious enough to make a drive down there on the weekend. I'm not sure I'd be restoring for competition or show, just my own personal enjoyment but since they don't really do reproductions, it...
My dream car is a '74 Camaro and, though I don't own one myself, I'm trying to familiarize myself with basic restoration skills. I read an article about auto restoration for muscle cars and it mentions that Camaros have parts that are fairly easy to come by. Does that extend to the floor mats...
My friend's getting her insurance company involved but the auto shop is doing a run-around saying that this is the closest match possible. I think you're right, they just painted the one panel.
Luckily, this hasn't happened to me but a friend recently had some collision repair work done and the paint matching looks pretty bad. Of course, the auto shop won't deal with it but I was wondering if there's any wax or anything like that which could at least somewhat distract from a subpar...
I've always had my car garaged so never thought to use any plastic sealant but I remember that my dad in Florida uses Carpro CQuartz DLX on his Ford Explorer. Seems to do the trick. Florida's got some pretty bizarre weather conditions and his wiper holders really hold up.
Just as an update: tried the alcohol and I had a bit of compressed air around the house so I tried that as well. It took some finesse but it actually worked! You can hardly tell any sap was on the seat. Thanks so much, guys!
LOL Good point! Like one of the posters above mentioned, I'd heard citrus too and even some products like Goo Gone but I figured there might be a solution I had around the house. I've been a bit lazy and haven't tried any of the methods yet but I'm sure I'll be having company in the car at some...
Thanks! I'm going to try the compressed air/plastic blade technique first because I'm really nervous about messing up with the alcohol and somehow bleaching my seat. I know that's ridiculous and I'm being paranoid but the upholstery is pretty dark so I get nervous LOL
I'm curious about what's the best AutoGeek-approved product for getting tree sap out of a car seat? At least I hope this is tree sap... I don't want to ruin the upholstery any more than I have to. Thanks in advance!
