Best I can do with closeup photos. I have about 3 of these -- 2 on the bumper and the latest just above the grill. They have a rusty orange appearance.

There is nothing to flick or scrape -- it is smooth to the surface after washing. Rubbing hard with the aforementioned chemicals did not work.
