What not to do with a bug scrubber

This! Personally, now that I know how destructive these are, would ONLY use these on glass. Maybe that's what they are intended for in the first place. 1. I should have known better honestly. Their stuff is entry level at best. 2. I just thought using the scrubber would remove the tar a...

What not to do with a bug scrubber

So I was prepping my buddies 2010 Subaru Sti wtih some Tar-X and a Simoniz bug scrubber. Worst detailing mistake of my life :( The culprit: This is what a bug scrubber will do to your clear coat: Thankfully I was able to remove the disaster with a PC7424xp and Sonax perfect Finish with...

Thanks again for the tips. I've read some great things about the xmt360. Because I already have a 2in1 and wax I think I might pickup the advanced swirl remover and polish from Pinnacle and see how that works with my PC. I'm sure it will get more swirls out compared the the Sonax PF. Haha...

Mine has had 2 or 3 ACD/AYC pumps go but they were replaced under warranty. Mitsubishi has just recently extended the warranty on them too :) Thanks for the tips :) My paint is almost there, I just need something with a little more bite to get rid of more swirls/rids. I might try the...

I need to get some detailing clients before I can get her up to 500HP :P 400-500 I think would be the perfect daily driver. So far she has been pretty good on my wallet though. No mechanical issues at all. Just your regular maintenance which I do myself :) So now that I know you own an evo...

Thanks. So far just a panel filter (K&N), ETS upper intercooler pipe and the newest Cobb Accessport with a stage 1 ots map.....for now. We just got an AWD dyno in the city so hopefully I can get some time on there to get some numbers and a proper tune :)

Is it possible to cause steam from a pad?

I'm having lots of fun even though a little discouraged but I love keeping cars clean. I've been doing it for many years but by hand and with off the shelf products. I bought a 12 pack of the El Cheapo towels and a couple of the cookie monster towels for wiping the wax off.

Is it possible to cause steam from a pad?

Yea I guess it could have been worse if I had a different machine in my hands lol. I would have thought a "saturated" pad would look different. I think in my case with the Sonax PF that my pads mostly look wet with water as I was inspecting the pads as I was polishing and after a while they...

Is it possible to cause steam from a pad?

Thanks FUN that makes total sense. The downward pressure is whats causing the heat and when I let go of the pressure the steam was able to escape from the pad. I guess now I know when doing a roof to not apply really much pressure at all as just holding the machine is applying enough downward...

Is it possible to cause steam from a pad?

Hahn yes I have a washer installed thanks :) I'll have to see what the pad looks like after it dries. Maybe I'll take a pic of it. I did have to scrape hard beads of polish off the pad when I was washing it. I am using a pad cleaner too. The steam/smoke didn't smell like burning at all. As...

Is it possible to cause steam from a pad?

Thanks guys, obviously I'm still learning. It's not the temps as Its only around 50 here still. I found that the less pressure I used the more smoke the pad would generate so I'm guessing the speed is what the cause was. I did my whole hood on speed 6 and didn't experience any of this. I...

Is it possible to cause steam from a pad?

This is my first attempt at polishing with a machine. I've been using the Tangerine flat light cutting pad with Sonax Perfect Finish on a PC at speed 6 on my roof and noticed after a while a ton of dust but what looked like steam coming from the pad which I thought was horribly weird. I also...

Suggestions on what pad to use please

Ya learn something new everyday. I didnt even know Meguiars made pads :P I just looked it up. Are you talking about the Soft Buff™ 2.0 Foam Cutting Pad? I've already ordered some more LC orange, tangerine and white pads in the 4 inch and a 3.5 inch backing plate for the narrow areas and...
