    Cerakote Trim thoughts...

Yes, application is its downfall. Put the product in a bottle and let us apply, to get a consistent amount on the surface.

    Cerakote Trim thoughts...

So you used another wipe to level? Wondering how that would make it less streaky, being that you're wiping more product on. If the first coat streaks, you'd think the second layer would also. And it gets sticky within 5 minutes, so levelling has to be almost immediately.

    Griot's (Cerakote) Trim Coat Wipes

Agreed, never again. Wipes are a terrible way to try and apply evenly. The wetness decreases so you get more streaks. And you can't level it.

    Cerakote Trim thoughts...

.. from an amateur. While the product makes black trim look nice and is durable I'm sure, application is the worst. Maybe there's things I don't know about applying a product like this. I followed their instructions, and watched a video. Wipe it on (using pre-moistened wipes), no levelling or...

Is PERL the best option to maintain plastic trim on a new vehicle

On my wife's 1.5 year old Mazda, I just used Cerakote Trim; NEVER AGAIN. I'm posting a separate thread on my thoughts and experience, as an amateur using it. Last year I used WETS and it was great; consistent look/finish, durable, easy, and forgiving, to apply. Topped that with some old...

    Cerakote trim questions

Looking at it today from 4 feet back, no real visible streaks. I think what I saw when applying it was wet spots next to aresa that were drying. I applied a second coat today, more even finger pressure, no levelling, and it looks great.

    Cerakote trim questions

Tried Cerakote Black Trim sealant for the first time. Pretty sure I didn't apply it as well as it should be. Luckily I only did one side for now (should have used the front bumper as my test area.) I didn't get it applied smooth/consistent, it did have some streaks. I figured anything that's...

    Mystery blotch

I think I'll try a mild compound, by hand. Before that, might as well try hot water and baking soda paste, can't hurt. Even read that a hair dryer might soften the paint enough to remove he stain. I'll watch a couple videos. I have 3" pads for my DA if the hand compound doesn't work. Lesson learned.

    Mystery blotch

So the spot on the hood, it's small and almost looks a bit wrinkled. I may leave it alone, only I see it. The bigger spot on the side, the outline of the poop is slightly a dark line, I'd call it maybe more than ghosting? After reading online, I saw mainly one solution, compounding. And an odd...

    Mystery blotch

I'll see if it shows in a photo. However, I just noticed another big splotch of bird poo, just tried APC and Tarminator, and I can still see a faded outline of the whole splotch. I am so angry at myself, have I ruined these spots from stupidity?

    Mystery blotch

Started spring detailing on wife's car, 2023 Soul Red mazda. Just doing a wash, Eraser, Klasse HGS process. Near the top of the hood, close to the windshield, noticed a spot/blotch. Rubbed my finger on it, felt nothing. However, I still tried a surface spot remover, APC, then Tarminator. Still...

    Spring paint prep question

Appreciate your candidness and experience. I'll go with primus and then a good contact wash. I'll clay and/or polish only if necessary. Being the old lsp has probably wore off to some degree, the Primus should help break it down before new lsp. Primus site doesn't indicate the ph level but I...

    Spring paint prep question

The website says it only removes dirt, doesn't harm lsp's. Will it be enough to strip away the old lsp, or does that matter before applying fresh lsp now? Or should I use a stronger ph touchless soap?

    Spring paint prep question

If it does need a mild claying (towel), would a non-abrasive polish, Klasse AIO, be sufficient? I did abrasive polish last july, not sure another round would be good for Soul Red paint.

    Spring paint prep question

If I use the IK Multi Pro, no foaming pressure sprayer, the dilution ratios are confusing for Primus. Each paragraph is different. "For cleaning rims and tires dilution 1:3 up to 1:10; for cleaning of parts low of the car , side members , bumper or removal of midges 1:20 dilution; for cleaning...
