Run same cord as with table saw etc. At 182F outside body, the first thing I thought was that poor commutator, and how long till the brushes need replaced.

Got the infra red thermometer out and was surprised to find much of the body running at 140-150F and some parts on the underside way higher 160-170F as much as 182F. The thermometer is calibrated and correct. Also, the air conditioned garage temperature is 75F.

Wonder if it is normal for this unit to run hot? Im not using the handle and it gets too hot to hold and smells. This is really the first time I am using it other than when I turned it on when I first got it, to make sure it worked. Using a white pad. Maybe I should call rather than post...
