    New Griot's Surface Prep

I don't know how much better it can be than the Mother's CMX Surface Prep. I've used it in a couple of paint corrections and it works perfectly to get the paint crystal clear.

    Surface prep. Wax remover.

I've had success with Mother's CMX Surface Prep. I find that it gets paint crystal clear clean and ready for whatever is coming next.

    Megs M799 - Bead Booster

Good point. Some of them are incredibly caustic. I have had paint permanently by them on a few occasions.

    Tire Dressing

I use Zaino Perfect Tire Gloss on my cars because it's actually not glossy. The tires just look like clean natural rubber. You wipe it on with a rag so no sling. Someone gave me a can of Meguiar's Hot Shine Foam and I use that on my wife's Lexus. It is ridiculously glossy after application...

Spray on sealants vs. Traditional paste or liquid wx and sealants

I've used various "poly" sealants, Meguiar's Cleaner Wax, and other products, but always found my way back to using Meguiar's #26 Carnuba Paste wax because it seemed to last the longest - especially on my wife's black Pontiac G8, which she was daily driving for a number of years. The car would...

    I hate black

Yep. That's how it is with our black metallic Pontiac G8. It has nowhere near the depth and richness of the factory single stage black on our 2000 Lexus ES. I begged my wife not to choose that color - to no avail.

    I hate black

So true. I just noticed this today in a lineup of heavy oncoming traffic. The only car with color was a red Miata. Or I remember having my orange Judge parked in the evening - it looked like a colorized photo because all the other cars were in black-white continuum. But those new iridescent...

    Migliore Vista

Possibly. Over time it seems to have cured more completely. It's been pretty hot lately. But now the hazing & scratching has become more visible. Still better than before, though.

    I hate black

I don't like black cars for the maintenance hassle, but that being said, we had three of them, now down to two. I've done paint corrections on all three and have had no streaking issues with either Mother's CMX or Hybrid Solutions. One key to it is having the paint surface super clean. IPA...

    Migliore Vista

A caveat to my original post. It's been a week or so since I applied it and I've noticed that it still hasn't cured. When I take a cloth over a window it will still smear. That being said, the car is in a storage garage and hasn't been out in sunlight and heat. Maybe that will firm it up. But...

    Migliore Vista

This is a follow up to my previous thread https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101-a/129401-removing-glass-hard-water-staining.html In brief, I used Ceriglass with steel wool to remove hard water water staining and etching on a car's windows. It was the only technique that...

    Removing Glass Hard Water Staining

Thanks, guys. I did upgrade to a Griot's DA for this project (which also involves paint correction for hard water spotting - that part has been going fantastic!). As you say, glass is definitely tougher to contend with. Not being all that eager to purchase another polisher right now, I'll get...

    Removing Glass Hard Water Staining

Thanks. Prior to the steel wool, I didn't work the Ceriglass extensively as it became apparent that it wasn't touching it. After the steel wool, when I polished with the LC pad on one window, no, I didn't keep the Ceriglass wet.

    Removing Glass Hard Water Staining

I bought a car recently that had heavy hard water staining and etching on the windows. i quickly learned that I was overconfident in my detailing abilities. None of the conventional remedies would even touch it - including steel wool with glass cleaner. To quote from another thread, finally...
