Started yesterday, more to do today and tomorrow. Client is out of town for the long weekend, so I actually have the luxury of...
Hello all - I am getting back into detailing after returning from a 2 year Korea tour. I ordered some new pads before I left and hardly used them, and now I can't remember which are which. I know they're all Lake Country, but digging through their website hasn't helped me. The ones in front are...
I use the NanoSkin AutoScrub Fine Wash Mitt with NanoSkin Glide. LOVE IT. I put it up there with Rinseless Washes in the "why on God's green earth did I wait so long to buy this?" product category. I don't know that I'll ever buy a coarser one, as the Fine seems to do a good enough job on all...
I'm a fan of Meguiar's D114 Rinse Free Express Wash. Main reason being the lack of gloss enhancers/wax. I deal with a lot of coated vehicles, and the fact that I'm not putting a substandard "wax" on top of the coating makes me happy.
Paints with clearcoat don't oxidize. Without seeing a photo, you're most likely describing clearcoat failure which can't be fixed by polishing. Honda and Mitsubishi have had very crummy clearcoat for the past decade, and clearcoat failure is very common.
Some good reading by our own Mike...
I often get questions about what products clients should use to maintain their vehicle after it's detailed. Lately I've been thinking about doing a take home basket with small-ish bottles of product - shampoo, tire dressing, etc. Is anyone doing this, and if so, how is it working out?
Unfortunately I don't think there's an easy answer - there are too many variables.
What color is the paint?
How hard is the clear?
How deep are and prevelant are the swirls?
How deep are the RIDS?
An aggressive compound\pad combination on dark, soft paint may get 100% of the swirls out, but...
Welcome to AutoGeek! Being a fellow Northerner (I claim Minnesota as home), I empathize with trying to keep it clean. I would look into applying a coating or having a reputable dealer do one, and also rinseless\waterless washes for maintaining during the winter months.
Can't link to a competitor's site, but I typically use the ATLASTA soft-tip detailing brush. It's actually my favorite all-around brush, and have two of them - one for interiors, one for wheels.
So I got tired of messing with Wix. I switched to the same company we use for our photography business, and spent the past two days getting things looking decent. Any thoughts?
