my buddy has an cls 550 that has what looks like a clear plastic covering on the front of the hood...i imagine this is to prevent chipping...did this car have that? if so (or not) how do you go about polishing around it?

how do i go about doing the alcohol wipe down?

cool...i guess i'll let it cure overnight and then come back the next day and put a coat of was on her...do i need to wash the car again prior sealing after polishing, or after sealing before wax?

hey everyone, ok...another quick Q for all you autogeeks...in my sat detail, i'd like to use this process....wash, clay, polish (menzerna 106ff), sealant (DP Sealant), then wax the next day with liquid souverain...my q is, is it worth it to wax after the sealant cures, or is it an unnecessary step?

thanks for all the info everyone...Since i don't have any other menzerna products i'm going to start with the 106ff and a white pad and see how it goes, then move to an orange pad if the white pad doesn't have enough bite...i'm sure the work time will be fine, and for the record, XMT 1 is such a...

so i have heard...i also heard that if you work with the polish in the sun or on a hot car than the work time will be much less than needed...i plan on doing the work in the garage out of the sun so i should be ok...

if you don't clay don't you run the risk of polishing little bits of dirt into the finish? doesn't make much sense to skip that step IMO

yeah i planned on that for sure...i just didn't order any SIP, the menzerna line is way pricey. let's hope i can do at least some correction on minor swirls with the 106ff, and get a nice result

so i guess this polish is some pretty serious stuff...

I just purchased the menzerna nano polish in order to detail a 2007 mb cls 550 with the ceramiclear clearcote...while the car is brand new i'm sure there are some swirls in the paint, most probably minor...would i need the menzerna SIP or will the nano polish with an orange LC pad work to remove...

he def wipes on it all the time, if there is a spec of dust on it, it gets wiped guarenteed...dude is anal as hell...i know he doesn't use any product on it either, jsut that towel i left him

i think he wipes it off too much...i gave him a MF towel and he uses it i'm sure more than once a day on a car that he keeps in the garage...plus i doubt he's ever washed the towel...

yeah...we have a hand wash place he could go to, i just think he is a cheap ####### and would rather not pay for a wash...i plan on teaching him proper technique tonite, and if he doesn't want to take care of it himself then i'm not gonna do it for him...he's the one with the 80k car, not me...

thanks...i agree with providing a good service and i've already been back once before (2 weeks after the detail) to touch up a minor minor spot on the trunk...either way, he could have driven the car once and gotta something on the car...i'm gonna go back today and give the car a bath and see...
