    New LED lights.

Geez, it's been a long time since this question was asked - I'm sure a lot of people have started and stopped by now and I'm just about to retire myself but nitecore and fenix make good headlamps and this one JETBeam HR30 Rechargeable LED Headlamp with USB-C Port looks pretty good too. I like...

Anyone else order a Makita PO5000C?

At this point I've changed my mods. I've gone with the top off the Makita BO6040 and put some wheel weights inside the outer ring. Also, I've switched out the backing plate for a Rupes backing plate. I'll try and get a picture for you. All the best, Robert

    Correct Technique for MEnzerna products

The amount of residue I'm talking about it's the amount most people would have after they wiped the panel. Run the polish way way down, then go over it with Menzerna Powerlock Plus. You can add another coat if you think you need too. Try wiping the product off half a panel. Then, wax the...

    Correct Technique for MEnzerna products

If you're getting a lot of dust with the FG400 it's probably because there's a lot of oxidation on your paint or maybe you're using too much product. When it comes to FG400 a little goes a long way and you can run it till the shine you want comes up - working inside of course, out in the sun...

Review: Makita PO5000C Orbital Polisher - Gear-driven and Free Spinning - Mike Phillips

I've moved on from that mod. Now, I put the cap from a BO6040 on the 5000 and it's much more comfortable and easier to control. It took some grinding and cutting but it really helps. RSW

    Makita Da Polisher

Hey Mike, On the rare occasion your compound is sticking to the paint, making a final pass in the random orbital mode makes taking the compound off a lot easier. There is no short throw random orbital that does anything to write home about. IMHO RSW

Anyone else order a Makita PO5000C?

lol I'm pretty sure the Makita Engineers aren't interested in what I have to say about that machine because they have my telephone number. A friend of mine's Son worked with me for a few days during Christmas break this year. In one of the shops where we worked, the car was at the far...

Anyone else order a Makita PO5000C?

I run the hard plates because I think the foam pads are more than soft enough to conform to the surface without help from the backing plate. RSW

Hey Mike, I know they list the machine with the 6 inch plate, but the one I saw last week in Shanghai at the trade show had the 5 inch on it. I use the Festool backing plates on both my 5000s because the velcro is much better. I also took off the front cover and filled the cavity with...

    Wetsanding -Trizact vs Abralon

Hey Mike, My thinking is that when it comes to cutting, whether with paper or compound, the point is to get a consistent scratch pattern at every step. So, If I'm starting with say, 1000 grit paper, every scratch from that abrasive should touch another scratch of the same depth, and the more...
