I also use the microfiber covered sponge. I spray the sponge, one side only, rather than the dash. Once you get 303 on the inside of the windshield at the base of the dash it can be a real bugger to clean the glass.
Although my detailing days are in the past I just used my gas powered leaf blower. I never had a problem and used this method for many years. Noisy but effective.
