    Recent increase in water hardness

Just curious. Are you guys actually testing the water. In so, what means are you using? My job involves that I test water so I am curious what y'all are doing/using.

Using M205 and Finish Pad = Cleanser?

I wonder how important it really is? I mean this as an honest question from a beginner. So many people have used something they "thought" removed all traces of LSP, products we now have reason to doubt removed all traces, and yet nobody felt their work was compromised. Could it be that the...

Do I need to wax AFTER using Meguairs Scratch X?

I would use a microfiber pad. Look at the on-line videos on how to do it. It will take a lot of effort but I was able to remove some on my car. Yes, you need to clean and wax afterwards.

    LSP stripping

PiPUK, I admire your work. I wish I could say I had the time to read the entire thread but I didn't. So what I'm about to say may have already been brought up. If so I apologize. I am curious if you have looked outside your field for the answers you seek. Areas such as adhesive bonding...

    Flexible air hoses

More for Mike than OP. You might consider something between your air hose and the air powered tool. This is what I use for air tools at work (I don't do autobody work though). SPEEDAIRE Coiled Air Hose,1/4 In ID x 25 Ft,Nylon - Coiled Air Hose Assembly - 1VEH8|1VEH8 - Grainger Industrial...

So you think you know TAR?

I don't see our dear chemist suggesting one shouldn't use kerosene. What I do see him saying is to use a the proper grade and purified form, such as what Megs has in their product.

Griot's 6" DA: info on wrench for backing plate?

You can try a "tappet" wrench. They are made thin for adjusting valves. Also the ones made for adjusting bearing on bike wheels. Either will be too good in quality and cost too much....but if you must have it now...

    Most regretted detailing product purchase

Yes, us new guys need a post on "best purchases". Money is tight so I can't really put together a big order. That leaves me buying OTC. Probably my big mistake right there. Have a 2006 Pilot (gold metallic) with leather interior and a 2008 Vibe (silver metallic). Both are daily drivers...

How do you remove grease marks from paint?

Okay....why not mineral spirits? I'd consider it unlikely to harm yet effective on grease.

    Getting spot free rinse

PiPUK is (mostly) right. A water softener may not do what you need. Reverse osmosis and distilled water should though, in addition to deionized water. Just curious, what problems did you have with the exchange tank from Culligan?

    Silver metallic paint questions

I have two questions that are bothering me before I embark on my first paint correction attempt. First, I have a number of scratches, I think from tree branches, on the roof of a 2008 Vibe. They aren't too bad as I did get some out using ScratchX applied by hand. Big problem is I can't see...

Can I save this hood? opinion...

Wow. As a newbie....I'm curious....what is the likely cause of this?

    scratches stand out

Pictures would help us give a better answer. It is a little hard to understand if your scratches are so deep that there is no color behind them....as in all the way through the clear coat and base coat. If that is the case only re-painting the car will fix them. On the other hand maybe they...

    Hot Water For Your Hose

If you are asking for a mobile method to heat water with no outside power source....then you are going to be stuck with few options. I'm sorta doubting you want to go with an instantaneous propane water heater. While possible we are talking big bucks. Other options would be a 12 volt in-tank...

    Hot Water For Your Hose

My concern would be that hot water has more mineral content. Depending on how soft your water is to begin with, and rather or not you use a filter afterwards, that may be a concern. If you want the ultimate I'd do what oldmodman suggests but incorporate a thermostatic mixing valve. They are...
