Mike, I saw you mentioned purchasing the mini Griot's polisher. I have the 6" polisher but simply bought a smaller backing plate for it. Fits and seems to work fine. Am I missing something that I need to buy the smaller polisher to match the smaller backing plate?
Thanks!
Steel wool was great advice, thank you. Learning every day!
I'm going to call it a win from here. Those dirty pockets I can't get and I don't have acid. Besides, like I said they are 11 years old with no maintenance whatsoever.
I like the poster who said out of sight out of mind. Valid...
So I realize I can't make an 11 year old wheel look like it's brand new. But no doubt the thing I love about detailing is the challenge of at least trying to make it new!
I researched and decided on Royal Brown, Iron X, pressure washer and a brush.. It got it pretty clean but I want ALL the...
Welcome to the newbie club!
I can say that yes, it took me a few weeks of endless reading to really power through all of the products. Trying to decipher what I need between what simply works, or what is exotic, or new, or a certain brand line because that's somebody's preference is mind...
I just want to take a minute and share what I learned doing a full detail on my new Accord. I practiced my "first" detail on my older Acura CL last week, really just to get a feel for the DA Orbiter and products 'n such. It wasn't perfect and I learned a lot. So with that test run under my...
Agree with everybody else. Used an orange pad with Megs Ultimate Compound and the finish was amazing!
By far the best advice though (which I DID NOT do because I missed it somehow) is to get MULTIPLE PADS of the same color. I used one pad and when I finished I took the pad off and the velcro...
Or... why don't you give them your business card with your website on it. Tell them to go to the website where they will find an area called something like "Our Satisfied Customers" and in there provide links to videos of how to maintain their car and PICTURES with links of stuff they can buy...
Hey there, fellow new purchaser here. I just finished a full detail on my car and here's what I learned:
1. Griots 6" DA was awesome. I loved it.
2. Megs Ultimate Compound works as a great all in one. Over the counter too. Now after pounding through quite a bit of it and needing something...
I am in the midst of my very first detail ever! :buffing:
I started with my oldest car, a '03 Acura CL. All in all it is going pretty well. So much information available here on the website and forum. Thank you to Mike Phillips for all the videos/book/articles, and of course to all the...
Tato, thanks for the advice. GLIDE, not scrub. Got it!
Also work clean and don't go crazy is good advice. Methodical is my plan. Part of my job is to be very structured yet work like it is an art. I hope I can apply that mentality to my new hobby.
Yes I do have MF towels. I forgot to...
Thanks for all the kind words and advice!
- My car color is the Modern Steel Metallic
- I absolutely did purchase clay!
- I will check out the Nanoskin line.
I will head down to Stuart, it'll just be a matter of working it into my schedule.
So now for the worst part... apparently FedEx...
