No experience with gloss coat but I've used CquartzUK on a 2010 Honda Civic that has soft black clear. I don't think the cquk has a better scratch resistance per say but better self cleaning and dirt repellancy effects which helps in the wash routine in terms of preventing wash induced marring...

The green towels that do come in the kits are really nice towels, I would agree there. I think they are considered all purpose towels on autogeek's site only they come in blue, gray, and yellow...I think those are the same towels but I do not know for sure. Maybe someone from autogeek will chime...

This is only a guess to answer your question (I have not used gloss coat) but I see a lot of people in the show and shine's and reviews using the carpro block and the 4x4 carpro suede applicators to ensure even coverage. What these detailers mean by applying "thick" I do not really understand...
