Would Poor Boys APC / Degreaser fit the bill?
I just bought a bottle of it and havn't used it yet:
Poorboy’s Bio-Degradable All Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser: bleach-free, all purpose cleaner for most interior and exterior surfaces.
Thanks,
Justin
thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot.. I've never used alochol on a car before, but I've seen it mentioned a lot in these forums.
Thanks again - I'll update the post w/ results!
Actually - come to think of it I used 105 followed by 205.. on two seperate days though. It MAY be from the 105, but I'm nearly certain I would of noticed it going through w/ the 205....but I could be wrong.
I apologize if this has been covered, I tried searching through the forum and found dozens of article on annoyances of dusing in general, but none specific to this.
I used 205 on my black Acura TL, however I had started polishing later in the evening as the sun was setting and it was getting...
Sorry - one more question I know is totally off topic, when a car is taped which I will consider in the future seeing how much WHITE appeared overnight as compound dried and crusted up in every nook and cranny, how do you finish off the areas the tape overlaps (e.g. hood to fender, door to door...
That is certainly a long list of things to consider.
I do believe I was working too large an area, and when I hit it w/ the 205 I'm going to try to tape off sections. It is difficult to visualize an appropriate space, and somehow that working area seems to get bigger and bigger as you work it...
I primed the pad by applying a swirl of 105 over the pad and rubbing it around with my finger until the entire pad had the lighter / whitish hue to it.
From there, I would spread a thin "x" of 105 on the pad, rub the pad back and forth with the machine off to spread the material, than turn it...
Mike Burke - I didn't find any problems using the 105 (in terms of wiping it off, or having it dry to fast).
I had read many stories prior to purchasing where people complained a lot about the products usability, but I found it to work very well.
I may be wrong, but I think it may react...
SameGuy - Thanks for the tip. I do only have one of each pad. I would do two panels then clean with a towel around the pad and the DA set to 1.
Two panels being fender/door, door/fender, etc.
Thanks,
Justin
Here some pictures after completing the 105 (I'm done for the day).
I may order some good MF towels before doing the 205.
An improvment, but far from perfect:
Ok - so I completed the entire car w/ 105. I will post some pictures a little later.
I did work in small sections, and as you get closer to the end I found myself working in larger areas (trying to rush the job?!?!?!), I found when it sat just a minute longer in a slightly larger area it was...
I did clay the car after I washed it using the mothers detailer spray / clay bar kit.
The paint felt great after the claying.
I took the picture of the before of the those deep scratches just because they were there, I apologize for not being more clear, I wasn't expecting those to come out...
So, in the end I still have some serious scratches and light swiriling. Also after the 105/205 combo I noticed some halo affect that I could not capture with the camera, even in direct sunlight it was incredibly subtle.
I'd rather correct what I've done before going any further, while I could...
