Hello all!
I have a few questions about keeping my dark daily driver Jaguar X type (British Racing Green) in the best reasonable shape. I have two other BRG Jaguar convertibles that are not daily drivers and garaged, which I maintain with a Porter Cable machine and keep swirl free, hand wash...
Thanks everyone for your replies.
I have not heard back from Connolly,
However I did contact Leatherique and they told me their product is safe to continue using on all the Leathers, even the coated ones, which is what I will do.
Thanks!
Hello everyone;
I know that there are a thousand opinions out there on leather care, and I wanted an objective opinion on how to care for older Connolly leather and newer leather as well
I have 3 Jaguars;
A 1974 E type convertible , recently finished in original Connolly "Vaumol" leather...
Thanks again for the replies.
For what I paid I also thought it would be perfect, and like I said, the shop has agreed (in paper) to re-do the car. I forgot to add, the shop used a heat lamp in between coats to try to avoid what is happening now. These guys are not amateurs.
Problem is that...
Thanks for the replies.
I did a careful search of the best shop in town when I chose the second shop. The 2nd shop I took it to is the best I could afford. I am sure someone can pant my car for 30k, but that's more than I am able to pay for a paint job. And to be fair they are willing to take...
Hello all;
Sorry for the long story
I have a old Jaguar convertible finished in British racing green. 5/6 years ago the car went in for a full strip to bare metal job, doors/fenders/hood/trunk/bumpers removed. When the car was done, I was never happy with how wavy the sides of the car...
I have tried,but I can't . I went on a early "Easter egg hunt" of the top rated body shops in town and none could see a problem, they thought it was a great job, until I got to the custom shops, who immediately recognized the "blah" craftsmanship. Sadly I find that more and more the standard on...
Thanks very much for the reply. The problem is not the clear. The problem is the "texture" and waviness on the base color or perhaps underneath. The sides of the car should have been sanded on the underlying coats to achieve a good result. Sadly, I made a terrible, uninformed and extremely...
Well, the problem is definitely the texture underneath the clear. The only solution is to repaint the car. Most places thought the car looked "great" . The only place that immediately realized the problem is a custom body shop. They can repaint the sided like I want them for a lot of $. If...
Well the next step will be to get the sides repainted because I won't keep paying people money something to fix that is not fixable. I wish there was a way to know if my problem is in the clear. Until now I thought orange peel was always in the clear and never in the base. Looking at the car...
The paint job cost close to 7k. I have never been so disappointed of anything as much as this paint job. I don't know if I need to keep on paying money to keep on sanding the clear or just have the sides of the car repainted. The car looks terrible to me. How do I know if the problem is the...
Thanks for your reply.
Problem is that THERE IS STILL a lot of orange peel from different angles. I think that the problem is that there is a lot of clear. I will be meeting with the detailed again next week to see what can be done.
Well here I am, 2 times wet-sanded, lots of $ later still unhappy. Either they where super generous with the clear at the painters or something else is wrong
