    Removing/Filling swirls from chrome

I haven't decided if I'm going to go the DA route, or by hand. I think I'll give it a go by hand since it's not a very large spot. Some of the chrome is metal, and I think two portions are plastic, but I'm not sure on that, so I'll assume they are metal. At $60 thousand, I hope it's metal...

    Removing/Filling swirls from chrome

Right, so there are some major swirls on my car's chrome pillars from a previous owner. I've been told that there is no way of removing them, but does anyone know of a product I can use to temporarily fill them? I don't think the chrome has been clear coated. They are just chromed metal.

    Here's what I'm doing, what's wrong?

Well, I went after the car with some SwirlX and then some Gold Class. The last few pictures are taken through the lenses from my sunglasses to reduce the glare. You can still see some slight swirls, but I suppose I'll have to accept it since the car is my daily driver. I'll use some filler...

    Here's what I'm doing, what's wrong?

Okay, I think I've got it. ScratchX or UC with Orange pad, then lighter polish with black pad, then sealant/wax. I'm just using some cheap microfiber towels, but they do pass the CD test, and haven't seemed to attributed to any more swirls on the paint.

    Here's what I'm doing, what's wrong?

Okay, I suppose I could be a bit too aggressive, but what's the 'scratch a CD' test for the MF towels? Presumably to make sure they are clean. Yes, I've actually only used brand spanking new towels when doing a full on detail since I've become paranoid about the swirls. So, I should wipe the...

    Here's what I'm doing, what's wrong?

Okay, I have stopped the squeegee, but I threw that in to make sure it was bad (I had my suspicions). So, what's a good polish to use after the UC? I have some Meg's Professional Swirl Remover 2.0. The car is a 1997 Xj6. The late 80's Xj6's had flat caps (opened when you pushed on them), and...

    Here's what I'm doing, what's wrong?

Here are some pictures of what I've done. This is the morning after the detail in the sun, so the car has gotten slightly dirty. Just note the imperfections in the paint.

    Here's what I'm doing, what's wrong?

Right, I've been fighting swirl marks, and cannot seem to get rid of them. I can get most of them gone, 90%, but they seem to come back for some estranged reason. I want to make sure I'm doing everything right because I'd like to start professional detailing. Here's what I do as a weekly...

    Hello from Florida

Hey guys. New to Auto Geek Forums, but not to Auto Geek, nor to the world of detailing. I'm currently a bit of an amateur detailer, but I want to move into the world of part time professional detailing, so I've got some questions I'll be asking to make sure I don't mess anything up.
