Flex 3401 - Variable Speed Is Kaput!

Just to close the loop... I got the two parts today. Started with the variable speed control module (part no. 292.990) since that was most likely the failed part. It works now! Pretty easy to do. A lot of small connections inside, so take a note of where they go. I took a pic with my phone...

Flex 3401 - Variable Speed Is Kaput!

Just as an update, I had a little time time to spend on the computer last night and found through Flex's website that you can order parts online through Powerhouse Distributing. I'd bet its the variable speed control module since the trigger works, but I just purchased the module ($75) and...

Flex 3401 - Variable Speed Is Kaput!

Taking it apart was the first thing I did. It was very clean inside and the connections were all good and tight.

Flex 3401 - Variable Speed Is Kaput!

Anybody have any issues with the variable speed on a Flex 3401? My 3401 is almost exactly 2 years old. I'v done a lot of jobs with it since then and love the thing. Was just outside polishing my own car when I pressed the trigger for the next pass and all it had was wide open throttle. Want...

    Show your ride

LoL! I am a garage freak as a lot of us on here probably are! Moved into this one earlier this year. Like it a lot, but it was tough since I had a 60x30 at my old place. I'm trying to guilt the wife into letting me put an addition on it by telling her I downsized for her. Would like to add...

Cobra waffle weave drying towel ??

I got a bunch of the green ones and a couple of the yellow ones from AG and they work great. I usually start with the yellow because they hold a lot more water than the green.

    2004 Lamborghini Gallardo Detail

Very nice job on the detail. I wish that car was parked out in my garage!

    What's the issue here?

aerogt01, I can understand where you're coming from. Last year I picked up my first machine to polish up a '77 Vette I had just painted.... I got a DeWalt rotary to polish it after wet sanding. About the same time I found this site and started getting a lot more information on machine...

    What brought you to AutoGeek?

At the beginning of the summer of 2010, a friend and I just finished the body work and painting of my '77 vette. Being a DIY'er I wanted to learn how to wet sand and polish myself. So I started by asking people I know who have done a little of it and a coworker sent me the link to Autogeek...

    I pre-ordered the iPhone 4GS....

Still rolling with my 3GS! Just over two years, still in great shape and working perfect. Can't justify an upgrade yet!

    Searching for tools (suggestions?)

I've been using Gearwrench ratcheting flexheads for quite a few years now. I managed to pick a set of SAE and metric cheap at some retail store, I think it was Lowes, they were on sale. Each came with seven I think, then I picked up a few individuals. I don't wrench for a living, but I wrench...
