My concern was the cure time allowing the potential for bird droppings to fall on the car. If that does happen duirng the curing process, how can I fix it to not cause any lasting marks within the coatings/protection?

You are not reading anything wrong. Why not over the bug residue? My initial concern was that waxing over it would just encase it and make it more difficult to remove. Would my theory be correct?

I was able to get a wash in on my car here in the Greater Philadelphia area. Unfortunately, due to light and time, I wasn't able to get a super detailed wash in to remove bug residue and iron deposits. Would I be doing more harm than good if I just go right ahead and apply Collinite 845 wax over...
+1 for Wolfgang also. It seems from the OP that he was worried about having to apply multiple coats to achieve the desired beading effect for the 9 month period. My sealant, granted I also topped it with a layer of Collinite 845, lasted 10-12 mo. 1 coat of each and still had sufficient beading.
Would the fitting be incorrect if I use a 5.5" pad on the 6" backing plate? Or should I always shoot to have at least equal to the size of the backing plate when selecting a pad?
Welp... That was easy. Thank you for the suggestion! It seems this one is the most versatile and won't require me to purchase multiple DA polishers for different applications. I will just add a 3" backing plate and the appropriate pads for easy swap out.
