The Post a Picture of Your Ride as it Sits Thread

Interesting story behind it, a billionaire brit wanted to buy the tooling for the old Defender when Landrover stopped making them, they said no, so he decided to make his own.

Yup and Land Rover then sued Ineos and lost…. And here we are.

Actually, an end spot is always best, even THAT far away because if someone decides to be a clown , only ONE can park next to you!

I painted them, originally I was going to do gun metal, but decided to go bronze after doing a test on the spare, it's still gun metal. They're basically gold with 3 light coats of black smoke tint sprayed over about 30 minutes. They looked patchy at first, but it evens out as it cures. I don't know how long it will last, especially when I go off road, but it cost me less than $100 in supplies, so I can do it again next year if it starts to look bad.

Just a quick question did you clear coat them, because it you haven't just use some car soap to clean them.

Mine are black steel wheels with hi temp matt black and i don't let any wheel cleaner near them in case of stains/streaking.

I thought about it, but the black smoke tint is sort of like a matt clear, just darker. When I do wash them I'm just going to use whatever car soap I'm using, it's not like they're going to show the brake dust much.
