Hey Everybody,

I thought I read that you shouldn't use microfiber towels to remove wax residue, that they would actually remove the wax from the finish. Is this true? Is there a microfiber towel that can be used to buff off wax? THANKS!

Completely UN-TRUE. MF is all I use on my paint, other then foam pads.

It's the best that I've found next to baby diapers.

You can truly find good and bad in all towels, micros and diapers. Because most use polyester in the makeup. With diapers it can be around the edges. On towels it is the decorative boarders, even though claimed to be 100% cotton. And finally some cheaper micro's. It depends on the blend. When in doubt try the back of a cd. It will scratch easier than a cars finish. I personally have moved to all micros from dry (guzzler), wax removal (indigos) and QD (ultra plush and miracle towel). The big issue is learning how to treat them for multiple use. (no heat, no fabric softner, and specialty cleaners)

Killrwheels, you say "You can truly find good and bad in all towels, micros and diapers. Because most use polyester in the makeup. With diapers it can be around the edges."
Are you saying that any percentage of polyester in a MF is undesirable? Or is it in the way the polyester is woven into the towel?

It was my understanding that all MF was made up of a combination of Polyester and Polymide that is subsequently split to produce a fiber that can be woven. IMHO it would seem to make sense that if you can find a MF woven with a large loop structure, it would be better suited to remove excessive wax, while a fMF with a very fine loop would be better at applying a product?
Then again I could have it backwards as usual....lol

Now I am not a scientist .... but it appears that micros with higher polyester count (usually cheaper in price also) appear to be more apt to damage or scratch paint. No matter, I would always test with an old cd. I believe the preferred count is 70/30.

Diapers that offer 100% cotton, are not always as it seems either. Some use polyester in the edging. There is a way to tell but it involves a match and smoke versus fire, but I would rather not be blamed if someone lights there diaper collection on fire.

Do you do this test with them on or off the baby?
